TV Dinners: The Devil Wears Prada - Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Like many a die hard fashionista, The Devil Wears Prada was my favorite movie of 2006. I know it may be a bit loco, but I actually saw it in the theaters twice and received the DVD as a gift from the bro for New Years. My clothes-horse self loved Anne Hathaway's countless (Chanel) outfit changes, while my foodie self loved how her boy toy Adrian Grenier was a wannabe chef. Adrian Grenier excels at making hard-working Anne late night grilled cheese sandwiches. Grilled cheese is number one on my top ten best sandwiches in the world list and I'll have to confess, since seeing the movie I've had a fantasy (or three) about Adrian making me a late night grilled cheese sandwich. In the movie he uses $8 a slice Jarlsberg making it one haute sandwich. For the super simplistic yet super good recipe,

Grilled (Jarlsberg) Cheese Sandwich
From Sunset magazine

About 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 slices firm white bread
4 to 6 ounces Jarlsberg cheese, thinly sliced

Spread 1 side of bread slices with butter.
Mound cheese on unbuttered side of 2 slices. Set bread, buttered side up, on cheese.
Place sandwiches in frying pan and cook, covered, on medium-low heat until cheese is soft and bread is browned, about 12 minutes total; turn sandwiches once.
Remove from pan, cut in half diagonally, and serve hot.

Serves 2.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski Go Sleek and Sexy in Calvin Klein For the Met Gala

Emily Blunt wore a Calvin Klein pop-of-pink gown with a body-hugging silhouette to this evening's annual Met Gala in NYC. She had husband John Krasinski, also decked out in his own Calvin Klein creation, on her arm as they hit the star-studded red carpet. Emily is back in the states after bringing her latest movie, The Five-Year Engagement, abroad. The film had a hard time finding its footing at the box office, but Emily, who earned an Oscar nod for her work in The Devil Wears Prada, is always a darling in the fashion world. Hope Springs Trailer: Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones Spice Things Up

As she's proved time and time again, Meryl Streep is a pro. Just ask her cabinet of Oscars, Emmys, and Golden Globes. But in the new trailer for Hope Springs it appears her character Maeve has lost her touch, or at least she has with Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones), her hubby of 31 years. After concluding that their marriage has lost its spark, Maeve and Arnold head to Great Hope Springs for an intensive couples therapy retreat, led by Dr. Bernie Field (Steve Carell). Along the road to reconciliation, the two encounter roadblocks, hijinks, and a banana.

Many Meryl Streep fans might be excited about this movie, but if this trailer were a person, I would be like "TMI, man." I know Jones was hot back in the day, but I do not want to picture him having a threesome with Streep and their neighbor. Having said that, the non-sexy stuff does look pretty cute, and given that it's being directed by David Frankel, who was behind 2006's The Devil Wears Prada and 2008's Marley & Me, it might be one of the feel-good movies of the Summer. Hope Springs comes out August 10, so watch the preview after the jump.

While initial reports say Anne was ordered to drop 16 lbs. in just three weeks, her publicist says "the numbers are exaggerated," but that the actress is losing weight for the role. Anne also dropped weight for her roles in The Devil Wears Prada and the yet-to-be-released The Dark Knight Rises.

Anne and Adam Step Out to Toast SAG Nominee Meryl and Her Iron Lady

Meryl Streep wore Stella McCartney to welcome friends and family to the NYC premiere of her Iron Lady last night. Her Devil Wears Prada pal Anne Hathaway brought fiancé Adam Shulman to the screening, with Hathaway showing off her brand-new diamond. Anne Hathaway's engagement ring apparently is worth a whopping $150,000, according to Kwiat, the company who made it. The brand's founder recently commented that Adam was aiming for a "beautiful, timeless, and special" look when designing the piece. Olivia Wilde also stepped out in a long-sleeved Dolce & Gabbana number. Adam, Anne, Meryl, and company kept the party going with an after-hours bash at the Royalton Hotel.

Meryl woke this morning to the great news that she picked up a Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination for her role as Margaret Thatcher - check out the full list of 2012 SAG Awards nominees! She's up in the best actress category vs. Albert Nobbs's Glenn Close, The Help's Viola Davis, We Need To Talk About Kevin's Tilda Swinton, and My Week With Marilyn's Michelle Williams. We'll find out tomorrow a.m. if Meryl and her competitors also pick up nods from the Golden Globes, too!

This year's Kennedy Center Honorees were in the company of many celebrities on Saturday night in Washington DC. Meryl Streep was one of the five people receiving the nation's highest arts honor, along with Yo-Yo Ma, Neil Diamond, saxophonist Sonny Rollins, and singer Barbara Cook. The President and First Lady, who wore a custom Vera Wang, joined Matthew Broderick, a Theyskens’s Theory-clad Sarah Jessica Parker, John Krasinski, and Emily Blunt for the party. Emily stood out in a bold Notte by Marchesa number, while her sister, Felicity Blunt, wore black to accompany fiancé Stanley Tucci.

Stanley, Emily, and Anne Hathaway completed a Devil Wears Prada foursome with Meryl! Anne brought along her husband-to-be Adam Shulman. She wore a simple black Giambattista Valli that let her new rock shine. Anne's engagement ring made its debut last week, when she and Adam went public with their happy news.
