The Full-On Fashion Crowd at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

It was a fashion explosion last night at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. Designers, models, editors, photographers, and muses gathered in NYC to see who would win the grand prize - $200,000 and a year of mentoring. Presenters included Lanvin's Alber Elbaz and Nicole Kidman, while Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg played hostesses. Models and actresses dressed up to the freshest of American designers - there were smiles all around. The biggest smile was worn by the winner, Brooklyn-born designer Sophie Theallet, and the runners-up were Patrik Ervell and Monique Pean. 2010 Spring New York Trend Alert: Naranja

Though I don't have a lot of it in my closet (do any of us?), I quite enjoy naranja, aka orange. It's optimistic, energizing, youthful - it is FitSugar's color, after all. Amongst all the white, neutrals, and grays of Spring, orange stood out to me at once. Red is Fall's favorite fiery hue, so it's no surprise its tangy sister has stepped in for Spring. Diane von Furstenberg didn't hold back - Chanel Iman is double layered in orange goodness. In need of a new outlook on life? Nibble on some naranja.

I have to admit: I kinda always love DVF's Spring collections more than her Fall ones. The woman knows how to warm-weather dress like no other. This was evident in her exotic-fused collection. I'm sure the famous front row of Blake Lively, Mariska Hargitay, Peaches Geldof, Shenae Grimes, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Rachel Zoe were envisioning her goods on a tropical getaway. Every time I peruse Shopbop, I end up with a cart-full of amazing items. Can I afford them all? By no means, but that doesn't stop me from obsessing. The retailer has stocked a staggering amount of cold-weather gear to keep us cozy and ahead of the fashion game come Fall. I'll give you a few hints about my favorites: studs, sequins, lace, leather, mixed metals, red, and bows. This Catherine Malandrino Gramercy Jacket ($795) is one I'd like to get out of my cart and into my hands ASAP. The fusion of leather and lace, and that delicately draped front, is divine.
