London-based Studio Xag creates vibrant retail designs and props for clients, including Diesel, Bertie, Topshop, and Oasis. Xavier Sheriff and Gemma Ruse, the creative forces behind Studio Xag, are responsible for the bespoke installations, shop retrofits, and window installations that often leave passersby gaping with surprise. Of course, it would be a little too costly to hire these two to create a window installation for one's home (not to mention impractical), but that doesn't mean there's not plenty of inspiration to be found in Studio Xag's work. Diesel's New Ads: Just Stupid?

France and England have reignited their rivalry over an unexpected subject: Diesel's "Be Stupid" ads. The UK banned the ads because they encouraged "antisocial behavior" and were unsuitable for children. Across the channel in more permissive Cannes, the ads won the top prize at the International Advertising Festival. Now the company has released a new batch: one depicting a woman pleasuring herself with work tools and another encouraging you to sleep with your boss. They're definitely stupid, but that's the point. Diesel says the campaign is a rallying call to challenge conventional wisdom and the ordinary life. Unfortunately, trying to sell jeans with risqué ads and lots of skin seems pretty ordinary to me considering Calvin Klein's been shocking us for years. Have you seen the ads? Dudes Can Suit Up and Smell Like Iron Man

We've seen fragrances based on fictional characters before and now we're seeing it again. In anticipation of the May 7 release of Iron Man 2, Diesel plans to launch a limited-edition version ($67.50) of its Only the Brave fragrance next month. Inspired by the movie, the scent will remain the same: a oriental-woody blend of lemon blossom, coriander leaves, mandarin, black rose, lavender, labdanum, tolu wood, amber, and ebony wood. However, in place of its traditional icy blue and silver packaging, you'll find red and gold hues reminiscent of Tony Stark's powered exoskeleton. In keeping with the testosterone theme, the outer box will be adorned with comic strips featuring the superhero. Wonder if Pepper Potts would approve of this bolder interpretation?

Nice and New: Diesel Home Launches in the US!

Diesel's Successful Living home collection, which launched to the trade in Milan last year, is now ready for public viewing, lighting, and sitting in the US! The line includes lamps by Foscarini and furniture by Moroso, including tables, chairs, sofas, casegoods, and even a folding screen, ranging from $350-14,500. In tune with Diesel's edgy aesthetic, the pieces have three distinct themes: Music, Retro, and Discovery.

By far, the faceted Rock Pendant (left) and Bar Stool Stud (right) are the strongest, most original pieces. The pendant has a moody architectural quality, and it would triumph in any modern home. I love how subtle the bar stool's studs are; just that little bit of trim keeps it from being overdone. It looks comfortable, too! There's also a mirror with studded trim that's a riff on the BBDW Captain's Mirror; kind of cool, but I like the original better.
