Entourage's Emmanuelle Chriqui Dishes About Her Favorite Designers

PopSugar was lucky enough to score an exclusive interview with Emmanuelle Chriqui who plays E's girlfriend Sloan on the HBO hit series, Entourage. Pop was nice enough to share some of the juicy parts about Emmanuelle's favorite designers with me as well as her Red Carpet secrets. Here are the highlights:

On Her Favorite Designers: I’m a huge fan of Lotta Stensson. She’s here in LA. And in New York there’s Ingwa Melero, I’ve worn her dresses a couple times. She’s unbelievable. Most often when you see me in long dresses it’s Ingwa or Lotta.

Then of course I’m a huge fan of Yigal Azrouel. He’s an amazing designer as well. He’s really just edgy cool. I wore his green dress at the Golden Globes. I’ve been turned on to YSL. I mean hey, who’s not going to love YSL (laughs). I really like Dolce & Gabbana. I think their dresses fit like a glove.

On Getting Ready for The Red Carpet: It’s a little nerve wracking because you just want it all to come together. You have a vision of how you want it all to be. You’ve got someone doing your hair and doing your make up and depending on the day – some are just so on and some are so off.

Estelle: Singer and Fashion Mogul in the Making

Estelle may be a Grammy award-winning singer, but that isn't going to stop her from trying out other creative outlets. After designing a tee for H&M and collaborating on a handbag design with Jonathan Kelsey, singer Estelle is ready to take it up a notch with an even bigger fashion endeavor: creating a jewelry collection with Rachel Roy. “I am excited to work with Estelle on a jewelry collection, which will debut in spring 2010," dished Rachel Roy via Twitter. We'll have to wait and see what the two come up with, but I'm hoping for something funky and metallic.

The Donna Dish: "We've Got a Lot on Our Shoulders Right Now"

Stella McCartney and now Donna Karan - looks like San Francisco is emerging as a fashion center.

When I think of Donna Karan, here's what comes to mind: draping, bodysuits, DKNY, womanly, classic, zen. When I met Donna Karan at a recent event at Neiman Marcus in SF, all those thoughts flooded me. But it wasn't overwhelming because Donna calmed me down with a (zen) fashion mantra: "Fashion is not all about what's on the outside. It's what you wear on the inside that also counts." I pondered that all day . . .

Prepondering, I witnessed an intimate runway show of her Fall collection. The charming senior vice president and fashion director of Neiman's, Ken Downing, served as co-maestro. Donna disclosed that she finds microphones "annoying. They're not genuine." And according to Downing, DK's collection was his high point at Fashion Week. "I love this collection," he said. On with the Donna!

Donna on her Fall collection: Her collection was a reflection of the past, present, and future. It's also empowerment for women. It's not just about designing. It's necessary to be intentionally thoughtful.
Donna on the resurgence of shoulder pads: "We've got a lot on our shoulders right now," DK said, referring to the economy. Ken said, "You can carry a lot more with those shoulder pads." Shoulder pads make hips appear narrower. Nobody gains weight on the shoulders, she said, referencing the cold shoulder dress.

Donna on color: She favors a color palette that's effortless. Grays, black, navy are endless palettes of classicism. It's an inner feeling she can't explain. She is affected by color and light. It's an artistic expression. "Red is like lipstick. An accent that always works." She's also inspired by her trips to Africa, the wilderness, nature, pavements in the city.

Matthew Williamson For H&M Burns Through Foggy San Fran

Breathe in, breathe out. This was me last night when trying to fall asleep. You know when you're so excited for something insomnia ensues and obsession overpowers? You all know I've been anticipating Matthew Williamson's H&M collection since the news broke, but I didn't expect to turn groupie . . .
Rise and shine, join the line at the Powell Street H&M. The line was only about eight stylistas deep at this point. PartySugar, also a MW groupie, joined me around 7:30 a.m. - store opens at 10. But something had been brewing behind Fab's scenes, I just didn't want to jinx anything. And then, the fashion gods looked down upon me, and I got the email - I was granted early press access. Not to shop mind you, but to enter the store (this was about 9ish), survey the scene, try things on, take pics, and revel in MWHM. I already had my wish list, as did Party, so you can imagine our elation.

The West Coast district manager, Alexis, dished on how she thought this was the most commercially viable designer collection. Agreed. She was gaga over the leather jacket and the hot pink gold-studded belt. Interestingly, this SF store gets more stock of the designer goods than LA's Beverly Center store; who said SF didn't love to shop? We also chatted about Phase II - the Summer collection, hitting stores May 14. Alexis promised hot bikinis and a fresh geometric print overnight bag (stay tuned for pics!). I had to ask if Missoni for H&M is up next and she replied "no comment" which leads me to think it's true since the news broke just yesterday and she knew what I was talking about, sneaky Fab.

We were able to hang tight inside the store, out of the fog, but still not shop, until doors opened at 10 a.m. But our plans of attack were in place. And like that - mayhem. This was my first time really tolerating this. I missed the first collection, Karl Lagerfeld, slept through Stella McCartney, slacked on Viktor & Rolf, cried post Roberto Cavalli, and gave up on Commes de Garcons. But not Matthew. This was my H&M collection. And so, I raced though the racks plucking my new babies, calm as a clam.

The dramatic ruffled print maxi dress was the first to go. And in person, this one was amazing; the black sequined detailing was divine. The short version of this was a hot one, too. And as celebrities still work their PR magic, the sequined artsy dress worn by Ginnifer Goodwin and the peacock dress modeled by both Nicky Hilton and Katy Perry were gone in no time. None of these screamed Fab. I added the glam rockin' blue blazer, the yellow embroidered top, the pink feathered cardigan, the butterfly tee, and the hot pink studded belt to my arsenal.

Fab Flash: Rachel Bilson, InStyle Fashion Editor

Rachel Bilson is spreading her fashion wings by writing for InStyle magazine. In the May issue, the celebrity designer has her own page (page 148) named, Ask Rachel. "I’m actually flattered more than anything that people want to ask me questions about style. I am honored to do it,” said Bilson.

In her editorial debut, Rachel answers readers style questions and dishes on her favorite Spring items, which include Lela Rose for Payless flats, Lanvin sandals, and Matta scarves. When asked if it's OK to pair a big shoulder bag with a cocktail dress, Rachel replied, "You can absolutely wear a large purse with a party dress. In fact, I prefer it. Of course, it shouldn't be the size of a carry-on, and anything with an overly large strap is too casual. But a funky purse can offset the fuss of fancy." Confessions of a Styleaholic, Part II

You ready for more? I've already heard accolades about Confessions of a Shopaholic - out this Friday. I hope you read the first part of my interview with costume designer Patricia Field, and here's more!

Before we begin, want to know how Isla felt about working with the flame-haired stylist? At a press conference she dished: "Patricia was extremely collaborative, and I only had one request, which was that I wanted Becky to wear extremely high heels so she could totter. I think there’s nothing funnier than a comedic character tottering and the impracticality of wearing something that clearly doesn’t fit her and is uncomfortable but she’s a shopaholic so she has to have it. And Patricia really is so creative, and she clearly knows what she’s talking about. She’s extremely experienced. So I, I kind of let go and let her guide me, and I really enjoyed the process. At the beginning I couldn’t believe we were spending 40 minutes discussing a belt. I was so frustrated. But halfway through I just felt like I began to understand that there really is sort of a science to it. It is this incredible world of people trying really hard." What are Rebecca Bloomwood’s favorite stores to shop at?

"The designer stores but also downtown in small vintage shops. Uptown, downtown. She shops everywhere. She goes to the airport and shops in the duty-free. Every opportunity she gets."

What was it like working with Isla?

"Isla was fun because she got it and she likes clothes. She looks good in clothes; she got it intellectually. She understood it; she was great to work with. I can’t do it unless we understand each other. It’s definitely a dance. With Isla it was immediate. She was very involved. That’s very important for me. I’m dressing a person, not a mannequin."

She’s very tiny, she has long red hair - did you take that into consideration?

"I think redheads can wear any color."

What’s your advice to redheads who think they’re limited?

"Their limitation is in their own mind and my advice is to think of their red hair as a strawberry in a bowl of fruit. Blueberries, strawberries, oranges, apples, they’re all shades of reds and oranges. Does that bowl of fruit not look great together?"

What is your advice for shopaholics out there?

"Find a rich husband."

Can anyone be cured?

"I don’t think it’s an affliction as long as you can handle it. As long as you can handle it, do whatever makes you happy. Be responsible for what you’re doing and have a good time. Rebecca works it out in the end."

If you are a shopaholic and you’re trying to take a break (ahem), what are some key items you should have in your wardrobe? What can make someone feel like they’re always stylish?

"Have classics and buy new accessories. It’s with your accessories you can make a new look."

Was this wardrobe bigger than the SATC movie?

"I don’t think so. All the movies I do are voluminous. That’s my specialty: Volume fashion. Fashion by the tons."
