With PETA protesters outside and six-by-six model formations on the runway, it was a chaotic scene at Emporio Armani's Fall 2012 show. The collection, described by Armani as "animated by fun, ironic touches, alluding to the roaring '20s, made all the more unpredictable by the addition of Bermudas," was just as exciting. Whimsical was the name of the game; knicker-inspired trousers were layered under the majority of the looks, paired with velvet dresses, beaded peplum skirts, and fun rose petal vests - all while paired with oxfords and slippers. The extravagant delight didn't stop there; hot pink velvet jackets, camellia-embellished dresses, and louche multicolored sequined jackets also made an appearance on the runway. 2011 Fall Milan Fashion Week: Emporio Armani

It's a predominately black palette from Armani, black head-to-toe looks - but should this make you think that the runway was short on variety, you'd be wrong. For Fall '11, Armani delivers a wardrobe for the modern women, 'laxed silhouettes, heavy on the texture and accessories. There is no singular cut, Armani plays with it all: calf-length skirts, easy trousers, long, flowing sheer dresses. Then, we get a dose of sequins, of fuzzy, fur details, and a pop of blue and green on bags, shoes, and shawls. It's a little edgy, just the way today's confident woman would wear her black.

Trends: Graphic print, military, fur, leather.

Colors: Black, a pop of blue.

Key Looks: Black and white printed tank with black trousers and a fuzzy, blue shawl.

The Armani brand's latest ad campaigns, shot by Mert and Marcus, are due to launch next month, according to WWD. While we love us some lingerie, we seriously can't stop looking at Rafa's, er, jeans. This Spring, one-piece bathing suits are making a comeback. But a bigger, better(?), overarching trend is the life aquatic. Steve Zissou and crew would appreciate the multitude of scuba-inspired, palm tree-emblazoned, seascape-styled getups that swam up and down the runways. Spring always pays homage to beach life, but never so blatantly.
