When I get sick, all I want to do is squirrel away in some PJ pants and a hooded sweatshirt, but Fab reader MissBehave has a more fashionable sick-day ensemble. She looked stylishly ill in a cozy turtleneck fair-isle sweater, skinny jeans, and black over-the-knee boots. Her look makes me want to rethink my usual under-the-weather wear!

Trend Alert: Nordic Prints

Nordic prints, also known as Fair Isle, have made a major comeback and I can see why. This interesting knit goes hand-in-hand with today's unfussy style and can brighten up any gloomy Winter palette. For instance, Ashley Tisdale's tee and denim combo would be nothing special without the help of her pretty Nordic cardigan sweater. Notice how the intricate print adds instant style to her casual outfit. Too busy for your taste? Take this trend in small doses via fun scarves or gloves.

Fall Classic: Intarsia Sweaters

Perhaps it's because they conjure images of hot cocoa sipped around a ski cabin, but for some reason, intarsia sweaters are a cold-weather classic. The name applies to those throwback knit tops with the graphics woven into the sweater-most likely snowflakes or some type of kitschy wildlife. Sure, they're a little retro, but they are also a lot of fun. Here are my favorite intarsia sweaters at both designer and non-designer prices.

Ralph Lauren Fall 2012

Ralph Lauren's Fall 2012 collection focused on proper English style, from dapper menswear to glamourous, turn-of-the-century evening dresses. The select crowd of fashion editors - many of whom rarely even crack a smile at these shows -literally squealed with delight when the music began: it was the soundtrack to the PBS series and obvious editor obsession Downton Abbey. That show centers on a well-to-do British family in 1912, and the collection sought to bring that time to life. The only thing missing from the menswear looks was a cigar and scotch; there were tweed and herringbone double-breasted jackets worn with jodhpurs, and fair isle sweaters with flannel trousers styled with newsboy caps. From there the collection moved to more feminine grounds with a series of ultra-luxe evening dresses, like a beautiful one-shoulder fuchsia satin gown and a black satin evening dress topped with a gold-painted ostrich feather cape. It was rich with vintage glamour and the classic themes Ralph Lauren is known for.

Trends: Menswear, beading, culottes, vintage glamour.
Colors: Brown, black, fuchsia, gold.
Key Piece: A gold evening gown will be on the red carpet in no time; for day, people will flock to the double-breasted tweed jackets.

Just when we thought we couldn't swoon any more over Joseph Altuzarra's creations, the designer sent us on a dizzying trip around the world via brightly hued Moroccan-chic knitwear, chunky fringe, plush shearling, and quirky coin embellishments. From 1940s Parisian silhouettes to ultra-tailored naval coats and equestrian-inspired jodhpurs, to the whimsical markings of a visit to a Marrakesh marketplace, this collection was all about mixing it up. The result? A sultry blend of super-structured jackets, pants, and fur-lined outerwear paired perfectly with eclectic fringe-laden skirts, Indian-braid schoolboy sweaters, and coin-infused cocktail dresses. Slick, tasseled, patent-leather ankle boots and knee-high riding boots completed each look - a fitting accessorized finish for the well-traveled style setter who knows where she's going next.

Lucky magazine is one of our favorite sources for great shopping tips. We're thrilled to share this fabulous story on an awesome Winter trend from our friends at Lucky!

The argyle pattern, which is comprised of diamonds in a checkerboard arrangement, originated in 17th-century Scotland. It's always been somewhat of a preppy standard, but we're touting it as this Winter's fair isle (a print that won the mainstream's attention in the coldest days of 2010).
