For its Fall '12 lineup, H&M marries the art of minimalism with high-impact detail. It's another covetable collection from the retailer, this time finishing streamlined silhouettes with bursts of color, statement print, and decadent accessories - and there's something for everyone in this batch of goodies. From the slickest kind of pencil skirt, finished with leather and adorned with peplum, to a perfect wooly cocoon coat, this crew of separates is as fit for the cool-girl as they are the sophisticate, with a palette of rich autumnal burgundy, gray, and flashes of metallics that speak decidedly to the season. Color Palette: Shades of Style From J.Crew Fall 2012

I'm happy to present a story from one of my favorite sites, Stylelist Home!

Though the big trend of Fall 2012 Fashion Week seems to be models falling, we're talking about all the bright hues spotted on the runway. Exhibit A: J.Crew's presentation, which included this great look that combined colors like hot pink and soft gray. Though there's no argument that colors like hot pink, yellow and orange are lovely, we think their appeal is most apparent when combined with neutrals. The bold hues bring out the warm undertones hidden in a shade like gray, turning what could be severe and sad into something much cozier.

To get the paint swatches for our homes, we used 'Chip It', Sherwin-Williams' new color palette generator tool. From this palette, we went ahead and took a quick look at how these colors can really stand out in a room, from a dining room where pink, red, and white are used as dramatic bursts of color against dark walls to a gray sofa that has pink accent pillows, which are an unexpected but elegant touch in a living room. Another idea we stumbled upon is a bedroom that has painted pink walls and blush bedding . . . for a feminine but surprisingly interesting approach.

January Jones's Lavender Look: Love It or Leave It?

Leave it to fashion fiend January Jones to be a whole season ahead of the rest of us. At the Metropolitan Opera's premiere of Manon, the Mad Men star was all kitted out in a black silk Yves Saint Laurent gown from the Fall 2012 collection. Understandably, with such a dark, atmospheric ensemble, January's makeup artist tried to lighten the palette up a bit using seasonally appropriate lavender shadow and soft fuchsia lipstick to offset the austerity of her look. But do sweet Spring colors like these really work as dramatic winged eyeliner or statement lipstick? And in general, can March hues ever complement November designs?

Paris Fashion Week delivered rich, textural prints in an array of vibrant colors and patterns that are sure to make for a lavish wardrobe next Fall. At Louis Vuitton, more was definitely more when it came to prints. Designer Marc Jacobs turned out models in head-to-toe looks that saw prints layered on prints. Stella McCartney tried out embroidered patterns in a palette of electric blue, white, and black, and Miu Miu delivered '70s-style jacket and trouser combos in a bevy of eye-catching hues. For Fall, designers at Paris Fashion Week showcased ankle-strap shoes in a wide array of colors and styles. The heels at Christian Dior looked like they came straight from the ballet, complete with boxy, point-shoe-inspired toe-caps, little bows, and ribbon-like straps in a muted palette ranging from black to mauve. Chanel went for an edgy take on the t-strap heel, adding chunky lucite heels to ombre ankle-strap shoes in jewel-tone shades. And Louis Vuitton went all out with versions that were super-high, colorblocked, and had metallic toe-caps and oversized buttons! If you want real romance, look no further than Valentino's Fall 2012 collection. Creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli designed an impeccably gorgeous lineup of gowns, jumpsuits, and coats that - for lack of something less cliché to say - swept us off our feet. Picking up right where it left off after Spring '12, Valentino honed in on the ultrafeminine details, neutral color palette aside. Floor-skimming dresses were updated with panels of refined leather, sheer Victorian lace bodices and sleeves, and some were even artfully covered in glitter. Whether the pieces were endowed with rich tapestry embroidery, metallic floral embellishments, or a sweet collar bow tie, it all worked towards one well-defined theme of pretty elegance. Of course, no Valentino collection is complete without its signature red creations, and the Fall offerings didn't disappoint. We were particularly enamored with the cherry-hue frock adorned with scalloped edges and paired with matching red ankle-strap sandals. For more details, just keep reading.

One of the biggest misconceptions about tweed is that it's solely a cold-weather trend - after all, it's of heavier weight, moisture-resistant, and incredibly durable - and while it is a great Fall fabric, there are also a number of ways to wear it for Spring.
