At the premiere of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen at the Toronto Film Festival, Emily rocked an elaborately embroidered Christian Cota jumpsuit with heels and a simple bangle. Gwyneth stayed equally minimalistic, opting for a high-neck jumpsuit from Stella McCartney's Resort '11 collection, sky-high Charlotte Olympia heels, and a cognac-colored Coach crossbody bag at the brand's Fashion's Night Out afterparty. Fashion's Night Out in NYC yesterday was, as expected, a crazy, rockin' time. In between shopping and mingling, we caught up with the wonderful Diane von Furstenberg and chatted about her favorite thing about FNO, (not) staying sane during fashion week, and what to expect in her upcoming Spring '12 show. Listen up for the 411 from one of the world's most successful designers.

On Fashion's Night Out: It's so nice to walk the streets and just see that there are things happening.

On (not) staying sane during fashion week: I have my fashion show, so I'm not that sane right now. There's no time to relax.

On her Spring '12 collection: It's very fresh, and it's called Beginnings. Beginnings and hope, the inspiration is a little bit African.

On why she likes designing for Spring: Spring is all about color. My show is on 9/11, so I just wanted something very happy and that's why I called the collection Beginnings.

On what she likes to do when she's not designing: I like to read, hike, swim, and travel. I just read Sleeping With the Enemy, which is a very interesting book about Coco Chanel.

Joan Smalls Talks Fashion Week Survival and Fall Obsessions at FNO!

At last night's David Yurman fête, we caught up with the gorgeous Joan Smalls - one of our favorite fab faces and the face of Yurman's Fall '11 campaign. Between bites of mini-cheesecake and black and white cookies, Joan shared a few bits of fashion week survival strategy, her favorite part of the week, and what she's toting from show to show.

On fashion week prep: Get a lot of sleep, I drink a lot of water, go to the gym, make sure you're strong enough to walk down that runway.
Favorite thing about fashion week: Those 30 seconds on the runway. That's your time to shine, that's your time to show the beautiful garment that's been created for so long. I think that's the one moment that excites me the most.
Fashion week indulgence: Chocolate.
Off-duty style: Casual, classic-chic always. Sometimes funky depending on my mood - like tonight, I'm wearing flats with a dress because it's FNO, and I need to be comfortable.
Inside her bag: Some heels, portfolio, my makeup wipes from Estee Lauder - cucumber, which is good, because after all that rubbing and scrubbing all that makeup on your face, it cools your face down before you get more makeup applied, which is pretty essential . . . and, cell phone.
Fall fashion obsession: I just got my new fashion obsession: a Givenchy jacket with the panthers and the orchids. I'm waiting until it gets cold, so I can finally use it.

Nicky Hilton Hits NYC For Fashion's Night Out; We Scoop Her Collection and Fall Shopping Tips

Nicky Hilton has impressed us not only with her laid-back California style but also her designing skills. When we heard she was hitting New York City's Big Drop boutique to debut her Spring 2012 Nicholai collection, we hightailed it over to get the scoop on her latest baubles and more.

On the Inspiration for Nicholai: I’m very obsessed with the whole deco era – the style, the people, the makeup, and I wanted to bring that out in my jewelry collection. But I realized that kind of jewelry can be very expensive, so I wanted to bring it at a reasonable price point but still great quality.
Nicky's favorite piece: I love this [turquoise blue] cocktail ring! I tend to wear a lot of black and gray, so I love adding color through accessories.
Fashion week plans: I’m going to Alice + Olivia, Diane von Furstenburg, and Charlotte Ronson.
Nicky's Fall shopping list: I’m loving all the Fall Isabel Marant, and I'll buy boots. If you’re shopping on a budget, invest in good boots. It’s key.
Fall shopping tip: I always tell everyone - don’t skimp on shoes. Save on the clothes - you can have a rocking H&M or Zara dress, but pair it with really good accessories.
Where Nicky shops: I shop everywhere - I love Topshop, Intermix, and Patricia Field when I’m in NYC.

Lauren Conrad Makes a Sexy Stop to Promote Paper Crown and FNO

Lauren Conrad wore the body-conscious Lola dress from her Paper Crown collection for her Fashion's Night Out appearance at Nordstrom in LA yesterday. She stopped by the department store at The Grove to promote her line and stayed to greet fans, sign autographs, and pose for pictures. LC wasn't the only fashionable star to step out for the festivities on the West Coast since Nicole Richie and Rachel Bilson supported FNO nearby at the Beverly Center. The East Coast also saw its share of celebrities with Rachel Zoe, Heidi Klum, Sarah Jessica Parker, and more hitting the streets to celebrate the fun event and help kick off Fashion Week.

Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio Gather Their Angels For Fashion's Night Out

The ladies of Victoria's Secret, Erin Heatherton, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Lily Aldridge, got together to celebrate Fashion's Night Out in NYC yesterday. They joined forces at the brand's SoHo outpost, where the foursome said hi to fans and posed for photos. It was the latest bit of stylish fun for Alessandra, who was out Wednesday to attend the Missoni for Target launch. Adriana was the only one from the group to land in the pages of October 2011's Elle magazine, along with other VS models like Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, and Chanel Iman. Chanel was also out on the town for FNO, attending the launch of Gucci's Fiat car uptown and Sunglass Hut.

Sarah Jessica Parker made the Fashion's Night Out rounds yesterday, first stopping by the Manolo Blahnik store for a special shoe-signing event. She then moved on to the Fred Leighton boutique, meeting up with pal Debra Messing. SJP wrapped things up at a big party thrown by QVC, where she spoke for a few minutes with Anna Wintour. The stylish fun came as a break from promoting I Don't Know How She Does It. The last few weeks have been full of interviews, junkets, and press tours, including a stop by The Late Show With David Letterman a few days ago. SJP talked about her overeager Russian fan with David Letterman, saying, "He ripped open his shirt, and he had a pen, and he wanted me to sign his chest. And then he went in for a big kiss! I just squealed like a lady and just ran!"

Sunglass Hut style director Rachel Bilson, in a Vanessa Bruno skirt and jacket, shared her expertise with fans at the company's outpost at LA's Beverly Center yesterday. She helped attendees find the perfect glasses and also chatted with us about her favorite picks for Fall - she loves "retro" shades and said Opening Ceremony is one of her favorite places to shop. Rachel also revealed that she decided to celebrate FNO on the West Coast, because that's where she's shooting Hart of Dixie. Stay tuned for our interview with Rachel later!
