Fab Flash: Ferragamo Goes Green

Ferragamo has gone green. In an effort to preserve the Earth, the luxury brand has created a line of eco-friendly handbags named Eco Ferragamo. What makes this collection special is that the bags are made from a nontoxic tanning technique, are lined in handwoven hemp, and use dyes from natural elements such as tree bark. The results, seen below, are luxurious, biodegradable, and water-resistant bags. The Eco Ferragamo collection ranges from small totes to maxi hobos made in hues of tobacco brown, lemon yellow, and grapefruit pink. The bags retail from $1,190 to $1,890 and will be available come February.

I Want This Wardrobe: Gossip Girl, Serena van der Woodsen

Sunny Serena was looking gorgeous per usual in last night's episode of Gossip Girl. Emmy in Sliced Sheer Ferragamo: Love It or Hate It?

I normally commend Emmy Rossum's red carpet choices; she always manages to be feminine and unique. She took a slight risk wearing this sliced, sheer Ferragamo dress at GQ's Gentlemen's Ball in NYC last night. I'm all about mesh inserts right now, but something is off - I think a higher hemline would have balanced the turtleneck and long sleeves. Cool earrings though. What do you think?

Ortiz Out at Ferragamo, Giornetti In

Salvatore Ferragamo is kicking its womenswear designer, Cristina Ortiz, to the curb. The designer, who's been clashing with the Ferragamo family for her flashy, sexy designs will be replaced by Massimiliano Giornetti, Ferragamo's menswear designer. Giornetti will debut his first womenswear collection in Fall '10. Ortiz will show her last Spring '10 line for Ferragamo in September at Milan Fashion Week.

On Our Radar: Ferragamo to Create Footwear For Upcoming Nicole Kidman Flick

Imagine having the task of creating footwear for a high-profile flick starring Nicole Kidman? That's precisely the boat Salvatore Ferragamo is in. The footwear designer, along with Oscar-winning costume designer Catherine Martin, is set to create a collection of shoes for Baz Luhrmann's Australia.

"My grandfather, Salvatore Ferragamo, began his career working in costume design for the American Film Company, a precursor to Twentieth Century Fox, so it is only fitting that we carry on his name and our company's heritage by collaborating once again on a film from Fox," said James Ferragamo.

When watching the movie, which comes out in November, look for evening sandals, riding boots, and classic wedge styles. Some shoes will later be sold at Ferragamo stores worldwide. But first, they will be displayed in Milan at the Evolving Legend Exhibition starting Sept. 24.

Salvatore Ferragamo Leather Bow-Tie Belt: Love It or Hate It?

I mentioned that I am currently in a belt phase, and that's why this Salvatore Ferragamo Leather Bow-Tie Belt, $290, caught my eye. I definitely like the brand's signature tidy bow, but I am not so sure I want it snug on my waist. I feel like it would draw too much attention to my midsection and make me look like a stuffy doll. It's pretty to look at but not so practical. What do you think?

2010 Spring Milan Fashion Week Fab Roundup!

Even under a scrunched time line, Milan Fashion Week stunned with numerous beautiful collections. In this roundup, I highlight some of my favorite designers, including Versace, Ferragamo, Fendi, and Armani, to name a few. I admit, Dolce & Gabbana's collection was my favorite, but that's not stopping me from showing you Bottega's soft and swirly frock, Gucci's cut-out wonder, and Emilio Pucci's magical prints. I can't seem to resist this tropical bohemian masterpiece from Etro. Simply a-mazing.
