OK, I think I have finally found the book of my dreams: Entre Nouse: A Woman's Guide to Finding Her Inner French Girl ($12) by Debra Ollivier. It's a must-have for any non-French woman (present) who seeks that je ne sais quois that French women possess (present). The author herself is American but is married to a Frenchman, and insists that you too can attain the glamor and mysteriousness of the French with the help of her insider tips and must-dos. But ladies, if you really want to appear French, you must lose those baggy sweats. Sorry, no one said it's easy being French!

Fabworthy: ASOS Welcomes French Brand, Kookai

When I traveled to Australia, eons ago, I purchased some rather cute pieces from Parisian-born label, Kookai. So hearing the announcement that ASOS has welcomed Kookai into their brand selection triggered many memories for me. Sigh.

If, like me, you're into the effortlessly polished boho look, then you should get to know Kookai, like, now. Not that you need any more convincing, but the company's philosophy is to supply young women with affordable apparel for their wardrobes. Reunited and it sure feels good . . .

On Our Radar: Upcoming French Flick Targets Fashionistas

French director Laetitia Colombani's next flick could have us pining for fashion in the way that Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette left us drooling for macaroons.

Mes Stars et moi or My Stars and Myself, starring Emmanuelle Béart (left), Catherine Deneuve and Mélanie Bernier, is about actresses who go from fashion shoots to premieres wearing the trendiest designer brands. Supposedly, Béart sports Dior couture; Deneuve goes all out in Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès, Prada, and Fendi; and Bernier dons Lanvin. These lucky ladies can be seen on French screens in October.

The French seem to have a flair for almost everything. (Well, except for that whole perpetual smoking thing.) While not everyone in France necessarily believes in the working-out-for-better-health theory that we Americans like to follow, they do believe in having good sneakers, which is something we can all agree on. The French sneaker maker Veja has created a sneaker you (and Mother Earth) can feel good about, because the sneakers, or baskets as the French call them, are made entirely from organic and natural elements.

The organic cotton is grown in northern Brazil, and the rubber comes from a small co-op in the Amazon. What's more, Veja claims that the sewing and assembly is done at co-ops where the workers rights are valued and respected. Oh la la! In this Halloween-inspired edition of French Revue de Modes, Ali Stephens shows off her fashionable crime-fighting abilities in a black and white editorial shot by Thierry Le Goues. With a hunky Batman by her side, Ali tackled the streets in an array of leopard print bodysuits, checkered frocks, avant-garde coats, and ornate LBDs. Of course, every sexy superhero needs thigh-high leather boots, statement belts, and slick leather gloves to complete the look. Oh, did you notice how Ali's big wavy hair and thick eyeliner is reminiscent of Lynda Carter in Wonder Woman? So rad. If only I could look this good on Halloween . . . Source

In an interview on The Today Show yesterday, Matt Lauer asked Guiliano what French women think of American women. Guiliano said that French women and American women can learn a lot from each other: The Gallic gals admire American women's boldness and independence, while stateside women love that French women are so slim and elegantly dressed.
