Freaky or Fabulous? The Gorilla Arm Trend For Fall 2011

Fur, both real and faux, returned for Fall, and one of the most interesting incarnations of the furry stuff was the debut of the gorilla arm. By that, we mean the seriously, thickly fur-covered sleeves of coats. Rag & Bone showed it in their futuristic Scottish ski bum, Giles did it under a black corset, and Peter Som took it to the trench. It's certainly a bold look, but one that could be hard to pull off. What do you think of this trend? Would you wear it?

Love It or Hate It? Fur and Crystal Chandelier

TV host Kelly Edwards of Design on a Dime and Tacky House - who offered her five top kitchen trends to me at dinner last week in New Orleans - recently shared this photo on Twitter of a fur and crystal chandelier she discovered. It looks like a piece of hide is simply wrapped around a basic drum-shape lampshade, so it would be easy enough to re-create if you wanted to. But do you want to? I can't decide if I agree with Kelly, who wrote, "This thing is great," or if it irks me. A part of me loves the juxtaposition of the glamorous and rustic elements, and another part feels that they are too close for comfort. What do you think?
