Imagine our surprise when we saw Beyoncé Knowles arrive on the Met Gala red carpet on the arm of none other than André Leon Talley. The megastar and new mom looked gorgeous in a Givenchy Couture gown - and what a gown it was. The dress, adorned with intricate beading, lace, and lots (and lots) of feathers, fit B like a glove and showed off her rather impressive postbaby body. Continuing her enviable streak of wearing head-to-toe Givenchy looks, Liv Tyler donned yet another iteration of the French designer's wares. This time, in a black deconstructed reverse racer-back tank dress, complete with sexy front leg slit. Liv styled the floor-length gown with minimalist-chic black sandals, a stack of diamond-encrusted Fred Leighton bracelets, and leaf-shaped earrings. It certainly was a pared down pick for the evening's festivities - do you agree?

This is just about as sexy as it gets - Gisele Bundchen's Met Gala arrival in a slinky, sequin-embellished Givenchy gown turned more than a few heads on the red carpet (ours included!). Between posing with her hubby, Tom Brady, Gisele flashed her supermodel stems through the gown's sultry slit. Gisele outfitted the ultraslinky ensemble with perfect precision - between the sparkle, front zip along the bodice and leg-baring silhouette, she needed little else to complete the look save for a box clutch in hand, ankle-strap stilettos, and, naturally, that gorgeous smile. Make sure you let your top dry overnight once you're done, and remember to hand wash it gently so that the sequin trim doesn't come off. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo leading lady and Oscar nominee Rooney Mara wasn't the only star wearing white at the 84th Academy Awards, but she certainly was one of the most memorable. With porcelain skin, red lips, full brows, and raven hair, she reminded me of a modern Audrey Hepburn - with a bit more edge of course. The origami folds and lace details of her Givenchy gown created an interesting mix of softness and structure. Replicate Rooney's Oscar look for the home by honing in on pieces that evoke old Hollywood glamour with a modern spin.

Keep an eye out for period paintings depicting fashionable ladies of the era, like this Cloche Painting ($80). The black, cream, and bright red palette perfectly echos the colors of Rooney's look.

This Ivory Pillow Cover ($100) in cream, ivory, and gold tones reminds me of a Georgia O'Keeffe painting. The shimmering silk material of the flowers adds a luxurious element to basic linen.
