Who Wore It Better? High Waisted Skinny Jeans

Back in March, Jennifer Lopez proved curvy women can pull off high-waisted skinny jeans. Now, Deal or No Deal model Claudia Jordan is attempting to bring back those jeans. It's a toughie to pull off so I give props to both women for trying. Jennifer deserves a few extra points for those YSL pumps, layered bangles, and cool vest. Who do you think wore them better?

Look of the Day: Good Clean Fun

No crazy patterns or colors here - just a light white top and high-waisted blue jeans. krystinabell is ready for some good clean fun with an outfit that makes me think "effortless perfection." And, as an afterthought: those high-waisted jeans look great on her - "mom jeans" doesn't enter my mind when I see this.

Yes, they are super-duper high and probably really uncomfortable, but on the right person, they can look absolutely smashing. Do you agree?

The 70s are back! What with wide legged jeans in full force and now high-waisted jeans, it is clear the skinny and low rise have competition. I am elated - you all know by now I have a thing for the carefree styles of the dazed & confused decade. While the high waist was around long before the 70s, try the 50s, it was given sex appeal in the decade of disco. I prefer this look worn with a wide leg, it just complements any body way better. Either way, if you've got the feelin' go for it!

When we first heard that crop tops (and more specifically, bralets) were going to be big for 2012, we had our reservations - it seemed like a look best suited for outdoor music festivals and costume parties - but after seeing the midriff-baring look on the runways at Dolce & Gabbana, Nina Ricci, Prada, and others, we inevitably changed our tune, and are officially smitten with the idea of unleashing our inner Kelly Kapowski. The trend is rooted in '50s-era screen sirens like Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot, and Marilyn Monroe, but is also dripping with '90s nostalgia - calling to mind fashion-forward TV characters like Kelly Bundy, Donna Martin, and yes, Ms. Kapowski herself. If you're planning to try the trend this season, here are a few things to consider:

Find the right length for your body (and your confidence level). If you're proud of your tummy, don't be afraid to pick a piece that hits above the belly button. If you're less comfortable showing that much skin, you can still get in on the trend by opting for a top that bares just a sliver of your belly and comes in below your midriff.
Keep it sophisticated. Yes, this trend is inherently sexy and will veer on the side of flirtatious no matter what, but there are ways to go about it that will help you look more retro pinup than '80s video vixen. Wear your crop top with a high-waisted skirt (like we saw at Acne, Prada, and Emilio Pucci), or a navel-grazing pair of jeans or shorts (just see Preen and Proenza Schouler for stylish examples). You can also layer it up with a fitted blazer, sweet cardigan, or cool leather jacket. This will ensure that you keep things classy while staying on the sultry side of things.
Be prepared to turn heads. Whether you pair your bralet with hot pants or a maxi skirt, be forewarned: you will get attention - so be sure to throw your shoulders back and revel in it!

Claudia Schiffer Returns to Guess For Its 30th Anniversary Looking Like She Hasn't Aged a Day

One look at Claudia Schiffer in these iconic Guess ad campaigns and we immediately get transported back to the late '80s and early '90s. Remember the days when we used to wear high-waisted jeans with lace tops? Well, those days might be coming back, thanks to Guess's 30th anniversary campaign featuring the supermodel once again. Schiffer looks like she hasn't aged a day, replicating her old Guess ads shot by famous photographer Ellen von Unwerth. "She was a turning point of Guess; she was a turning point of Ellen's career; Guess was a turning point of a life for Claudia," said CEO and creative director Paul Marciano. "Everybody talked about the Guess Girl." In celebration of Guess's 30 years, the brand will also be launching a special 15-piece capsule collection inspired by Schiffer and other Guess models, featuring Anna Nicole Smith printed tees, cutoff jeans originally modeled by Adriana Lima, and a cheeky gingham top worn by Eva Herzigova. Prices range from $39 to $138, and will be available April 24 at Guess flagship stores, Macy's, and on its new website, guess1981.com, launching soon for its anniversary.
