ICYMI, Hussein Chalayan partnered with J Brand to deliver a collection of forward jeans. This J Brand Hussein Chalayan Circuit Low Rise Zipper Jean ($258) is one of them. It's different from other skinny jeans due to the bunching at the center of the leg. I can't see it being flattering on many body types, but it would work for an experimental gal. Are you that gal?

Hussein Chalayan Schools Kate Moss, Hooks Up With J Brand

Hussein Chalayan has a lot on his mind. The designer sat down to chat about his new collaboration with J Brand - which hit Barneys today - but also veered off into other territory, namely Kate Moss. "I don’t think it [Kate Moss for Topshop] represented her, and I didn’t think she worked hard enough. I even told her to her face," Chalayan said. "She [Kate] said, 'Oh, I’m just trying to do a light thing; I’m not trying to do anything serious.' But I said, ‘That’s not the point.'" Zing.

Fab's Top 10 Fall Shows

Are you all ready for Fall? Ha. I know you're on the verge of pouncing on Spring shopping, but it's always nice to know what's to come in your fashion future. The curtain has closed on the Fall shows. As expected, it was a tame season, but that doesn't mean it was boring. One city in particular disappointed (sorry Milan) while one (Paris) supplied the grand finale. Some of my favorites continued to dazzle (Louis Vuitton, pictured) and a couple surprises (Hussein Chalayan, Adam Lippes) reminded me that fashion is ever evolving. Without further ado . . . Source

Fab Flash: High/Low Designer Collaborations at an All-Time High

During dismal economic times, designer collaborations are the way to go. “We’re definitely going to see a lot more of these high-low marriages,” said Valerie Steele, of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. “People are going to want a lot of fashion for their buck.” With that said, now is the time to nab a creation from your favorite high-end designer for a fraction of the price.

For example, J Brand has teamed up with Hussein Chalayan to create an exclusive denim line. “The opportunity to work with Hussein brings both brands to another level,” said Suzy Crippen, of J Brand. “It is all about business. The business of making something beautiful, a collector’s item you can afford, like a cheap Picasso.” Affordable designer goodies? That's always been the Fab way to go . . .

On Our Radar: Hussein Chalayan Steps It Up

Hussein Chalayan is stepping up his game. The designer, who was recently acquired by French multinational holding company and named Puma's creative director, unveiled a selection of footwear at the showing of his 2009 Spring pre-collection in Milan.

But wait, there's more. Chalayan will create an expansive footwear set to launch in Fall/Winter of 2009. Look forward to seeing some creative confections!

Paris Fashion Week: Hussein Chalayan

Hussein Chalayan is a designer to watch, and not just because his runway show featured self-undressing clothes. Yes, you heard me right: The Spring 2007 show from this Turkish-Cypriot designer at Paris Fashion Week featured apparel that opened and fell away on its own, leaving models standing on the runways in the buff. It was a technical marvel created by a special effects team who worked on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

But amazingly, this parade of bells, whistles, and nudity didn't upstage the rest of Chalayan's collection. The clothes were a futuristic frenzy of foil-like fabrics, saucer-rimmed hats, and dresses constructed out of bubbles and beading. But between all the sci-fi were many wearable and stylish looks, including A-line dresses with sheer overlays in stunning color combinations. To see the collection, read more

Sneak Peek! Kate Moss For Topshop, Fall '09

Signing a multimillion dollar deal sure hasn't affected Kate Moss's designing skills. In fact, I think it's only boosted them. For her Fall '09 collection for Topshop, Moss ditched the heart-print tees and printed maxis for unique knits and sumptuous coats. And who better to show it all off than the Super herself? The simple, dark backdrop puts all the focus on Kate's selection of nubby mohair jackets, billowy chiffon gypsy-inspired frocks, and sleek black separates - much more sophisticated and tailored than any of her past collections. Maybe Hussein Chalayan's comments about her designing struck a cord? Whatever it is, I like it. You know you want more . . .
