Kristin Cavallari keeps a low profile these days, but she did get snapped while arriving at Miami International Airport yesterday. Most people keep their traveling outfits simple, but it's nice to add a dose of fun via a colorful piece, like Kristin did with her magenta silk scarf. It lends just enough color to her tough outfit. My favorite Hills girl Whitney Port traded her red brocade Nicole Miller dress for something a little more vibrant and trendy while having lunch with a gal pal. We've been seeing florals quite a bit lately, but Whitney shows us the trend has yet to be exhausted. To mellow out the loudness of the dress, she accessorized with a gray scarf and a black satchel. Throw in some metallic flats, a cool pair of rounded shades, and you have one fashionable reality starlet.

What Is Twig Tea, Anyway?

Alicia Silverstone claims that twig tea, also called kukicha, cures just about everything. And we've been noticing it appearing in more and more stores (we also saw it a few times at the Fancy Food Show). But what's the deal with all of the hype?

Twig tea is essentially a Japanese blend of the tough stems, stalks, and twigs from the Camellia sinensis plant. These bits usually get discarded, but when they're saved, toasted, and steeped in water, kukicha is formed. The flavor is nutty and slightly creamy, and since most of the caffeine is stored in the leaves of the plant, you won't get the same buzz from a cup of this stuff as you would a cup of green or black tea, so this is a great option for anyone trying to eliminate caffeine from his or her life. Its alkalizing properties and low caffeine level also make it a beverage of choice for the macrobiotic diet.

Kukicha tastes deliciously rich and toasted, which is the perfect way to start your day (in fact, there is a quality about it that reminds me of a good cup of coffee). Steep your twig tea in freshly boiled water for four to five minutes. Have you ever tried it?

Do You Think Smash Is Worth the Hype?

NBC's Broadway drama Smash premiered this week after what felt like tons of promotion, introducing us to a group of producers who come up with an idea for a Marilyn Monroe-themed musical. We also met the two young women who want to star in it: Karen (Katharine McPhee), the small-town girl trying to make it big, and Ivy (Megan Hilty), the capable pro who seems tailor-made for the part. The first episode is definitely consuming - I'll keep tuning in to see who wins the coveted role as Marilyn, but I'm also just as intrigued by what's going on behind the scenes with the production team (thanks to talented heavy hitters like Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston). For those who tuned in, I want to know what you thought; did Smash deserve all the hype around it? And more importantly, will you keep watching?
