Intarsia
A knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colors. Also the retail term for sweaters with geometric designs. Fields of different colors and materials appear to be inlaid in one another, but are in fact all separate pieces that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Living in SF, I'm about all about layering. That's where cozy sweater coats come in handy. The recent influx of Aztec, Nordic, and Navajo prints have me in a fashion tizzy — I think I need one of each.

Perhaps it's because they conjure images of hot cocoa sipped around a ski cabin, but for some reason, intarsia sweaters are a cold-weather classic. The name applies to those throwback knit tops with the graphics woven into the sweater—most likely snowflakes or some type of kitschy wildlife. Sure, they're a little retro, but they are also a lot of fun.

While many dread budget restraints, former Cacharel designer Ignacio Ribeiro welcomes it. "Cutting budgets back is so exciting," he said, referring to the relaunch of him and his wife, Suzanna Clement's label, Clement Ribeiro. The duo put their company into voluntary liquidation in 2005 and left Cacharel in 2007.

There's something about kimono cuts that give off a Zen-like feel. Is it the wide sleeves or flattering shape? Or maybe it's the robe-inspired cut.

Jessica Simpson was spotted with her undercover lover last week in New York dressed for spring like weather. I love this Temperley dress, although it isn't all flattering on her. Why the messy hair and the ugly shoes Jess?
