Why We Covet: Irene Neuwirth's unique designs always seem to include exotic gems in colors so beautiful you can't stop staring at them. Case in point: countless celebs like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Reese Witherspoon, Rashida Jones, and Halle Berry have all dazzled while wearing her jewelry. Irene cites the ocean as a major influence in her work, and we can imagine these earrings and a flowy dress taking a walk down the beach at sunset. Fun fact: chrysoprase (sometimes called Australian jade) is a rare form of quartz, and small amounts of nickel give it that vivid green color.

Fab Flash: CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists Announced

Drum roll please. From a group of 100 applicants, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has handpicked their top 10 contenders for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund: Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Irene Neuwirth, Albertus Q. Swanepoel of Albertus Quartus, Alejandro Ingelmo, Juan Carlos Obando, Swaim and Christina Hutson of Obedient Sons & Daughters, John Patrick of Organic, Sophie Buhai, and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava, and Target's twelfth GO International designer, Richard Chai.

"The mix of it was very varied," said CFDA executive director Steven Kolb who spoke about the diverse pool of talent, which included a mixed bag of sustainable designers, jewelry designers, and collections. The grand-prize winner will be awarded $200,000 with two runners-up receiving $50,000 each. Announcement of the chosen ones will be made on Nov. 17.

Last night's Oscars had some gorgeous accessories moments, and we're jonesing to get our hands on the stars' sparkling red-carpet earrings. Busy Philipps wore Irene Neuwirth earrings, and we found a smaller, less expensive (but still an investment) version. Reese Witherspoon wore Neil Lane emeralds, and we found these for under $100. Tassel earrings are a must thanks to Natalie Portman rocking a pair from Tiffany's; for Spring we like this version in turquoise. Finally, Gwyneth's Louis Vuitton multicolor seahorse earrings were so fun, we need a pair for ourselves, in the form of these peacocks ($48). Click to shop!

Whether it's a monochromatic look a la Rihanna in Antonio Berardi, or a tonal look a la Diane von Furstenburg Fall 2011 runway, it's high impact and we love boldness of it for Fall. To pull it off after Labor Day, try mixing it with neutrals: these hues look fabulous with shades of gray, camel, or rust. Avoid pairing it with lighter colors like cream or pale yellow as it will feel too unseasonal for Fall dressing.
