For Spring 2012, Jonathan Saunders took an extremely juicy trip to '50s ladylike dressing, giving us a collection of ultra-feminine dresses and separates in an array of colors that wasn't unlike the contents of a Starburst tropical fruit package. Add to that Indian-inspired prints and a curlicue print that reminded us of a Palm Beach grandmother's white wrought iron fence, and you have a bold collection that channels the ladylike dressing of the 1950s without any real primness, but a real sense of fun. There were more boyish options too, via slouchy bermuda shorts and silky pajama tops - intended for a platform shoe and boyfriend blazers.

Trends: Bright color, bold print, '50s ladylike dressing, pajama dressing, bermuda shorts.
Colors: Aqua, citrus - lemon, lime, orange, bright pink.
Key Piece: The printed full-skirted dresses, slouchy bermuda shorts, but really anything in the curlicue print.
Accessories: Bright, tropical-looking platform espadrilles.
Who Would Wear It: It's a versatile collection that could be worn by England's current fashion leading ladies like Kate Middleton or Samantha Cameron, or style cuties like Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung.

Five years ago, Target started collaborating with some of the industry's best - now it's celebrating Target Go International with a fabulous 34-piece collection created by 17 previously featured designers. Luella Bartley, Tara Jarmon, Paul & Joe, Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Libertine, Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk, Rogan, Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon, Tracy Feith, Rodarte, Zac Posen, and Tucker will all contribute fun dresses, available in stores and online March 13 through April 10. While we anxiously wait, here are 10 pieces we hope to see re-created come Spring!

Jonathan Saunders is still going strong with his collaboration with Topshop. While his past collections with the retail giant were bright and bold, his latest offerings hit a different note. "My collection for Topshop this season has been inspired by sportswear and workwear, as well as the bold and graphic shapes of the Memphis movement. It’s perfect for urban city dwellers," said Saunders. His new line, debuting Jan. 22, takes on a more minimal approach using geometric shapes and color blocking techniques. The only colors used are black and white, with tricolor denim as the focal point. I like how the '90s-inspired silhouettes are tempered with his iconic modern prints. Minimal jewels allow Saunders's creation to shine while black sandals by Sergio Rossi further Sienna's ferocity. This severe, body-con red patterned dress is a surprising choice for the bohemian actress, but I think she pulls it off. Do you like it?

Look of the Day: Cavalry Chic

Missfox looks like she's ready to battle off the boys in her cavalry chic ensemble. Her military shirt is the real thing - gifted from her gramps - and I like how her Ray-Bans complete her look. Style For Style: Using Colorblock to Look Slender

When I first saw model Masha Tyelna in this Dazed & Confused editorial (center), I freaked out: I thought her waist was freakishly small. Upon closer inspection, I realized it's just a fashion illusion created by the black side panels on her strapless dress. Phew! Although her look is over-dramatized, we can take away a thing or two from it, much like how we learned from Leighton Meester that racerbacks can make you appear curvier.

Target's Go International line is about to see its quirkiest, most avant-garde designs yet thanks to British designer Jonathan Saunders. The news of the collaboration came a few months back and I have no doubt that it excited the fashion-forward crowd. Starting Oct. 5, those who love a little funky in their closet will be able to score art-inspired pieces with splashes of color, modern silhouettes, and unique prints.
For his cheaper collection, ranging from $14.99 to $59.99, Saunders was highly influenced by artists like Gustav Klimt, Jackson Pollock, and Rothko (like far left ombre dress, worn by model Hanne Gaby Odiele). If those names mean nothing to you, perhaps a Wikipedia session prior to purchasing would help.

This Just In! Target Announces Jonathan Saunders as the 13th GO International Designer

Target has chosen Jonathan Saunders to design its next GO International collection. The highly touted British designer is known for his use of colorblocking and innovative color combinations in his designs. The limited-edition collection will be available early October. Remember he also did a collection for Topshop? And, we didn't fancy it that much. Guess we'll have to wait and see if this one is a bigger success!
