Halloween Look of the Day: Kaiser Karl

Halloween came and went, but I'm still reveling in the aftermath. One of the coolest costumes in the A Fabby Halloween group is Kaiser Karl. Coco von wu did an awesome job of mimicking the fashion great. Love the wig, the glasses, the fingerless gloves - love it all.

Paris Fashion Week is the creme de la creme of all fashion events. New York had its highlights; London wowed me with its revived schedule; and Milan is always beautiful, but Paris? Undeniably thrilling. Here's a roundup of my favorite looks, ranging from the spooky, kooky looks of Gareth Pugh to breathtaking frocks from Yves Saint Laurent. Chanel's Barn Bonanza!

Karl does country. It's impossible to guess Karl's next move. And who would have thought it would be to the barn? His Spring collection, replete with stars and spectacles, lightened the mood. The clothes were frilly, feminine, and colorful, adorned with thematic accessories like Chanel clogs, flowers in the hair, and drippy jewels. Prince was there - random - and so were Chanel devotees Rihanna, Claudia Schiffer, Dasha Zhukova, and Clemence Poesy. With Karl playing a part, and Lily Allen serenading, it looked like a thrilling fashion hoedown.

First the Karl teddy bear, now a Manga doll. It's official: Karl Lagerfeld is an icon. The Italian maker of Japanese-inspired collectible figurines has created a Karl Tokidoki. Karl is clad in vinyl and is 10 inches tall - and he's affordable! Sorta. At 129 euros, about $190, they will be distributed at Tokidoki flagships in New York, Milan, and Los Angeles and select specialty stores for the holidays. Karl Tokidoki is wearing clothes from his K Karl Lagerfeld Collection; the severe sunnies and rhinestone-studded tie are quintessential Karl.

Sundance Channel Goes Full Frontal Fashion

I was bummed when Full Frontal Fashion, a fashion program focusing on New York Fashion Week, was canceled back in January. Now there's some light at the end of the tunnel - the Sundance Channel is reviving it in its own way. "For us, it’s not about the trendy - it’s just about this dramatic, entertaining and, above all, creative perspective," said general manager Sarah Barnett. Expect a mix of original television programming and Web content.

The Day Before is a four-part series that follows four designers - Sonia Rykiel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi, and Proenza Schouler - in the 36 hours preceding their shows. As for the website, which launches Sept. 1, here's what you'll see: Patrick McMullan's video reports and a photo diary from the collections, and contributions from Lynn Yaeger, former Teen Vogue and Nylon fashion editor Aya Kanai, and Los Angeles Times editor Robin Sayers. The site will also feature a video and photo exhibition of the work of Bruce Weber.

First Look: Lily Allen For Coco Cocoon by Chanel, Fall '09

After peeping at the behind-the-seams footage of Lily Allen's ads for Chanel, we can finally feast our eyes on the final product shot by the Kaiser himself. To no one's surprise, the British songstress looks amazingly cute in her diamond tiara, dark sunnies, and sleek separates - all while carrying Chanel's new Coco Cocoon reversible handbag collection. I'm loving how Lily's princess punk vibe shines through with the help of funky accessories and styling. The bags are definitely puffy and coccon-like, different from Chanel's per usual sleek options, but they're different and fun - just like Lily! Do tell: are you loving or hating this?

Fashion Quickie: Lara Stone Rides Chanel

The Chanel boutique on Rue Royale in Paris was a scene to see on Friday. Karl Lagerfeld was there shooting the press kit for Chanel’s pre-Spring collection, deemed Starting Point. Lara Stone and Baptiste Giacobini were also there, posing with a motorcycle customized for Chanel in Toulouse, France. What I would have paid to be one of those bystanders in the background . . .

Simply Fab: Karl and Marc Canvas Totes

The canvas tote continues to evolve. It took off with Anya Hindmarch's I'm Not a Plastic Bag - remember the frenzy? - and has since taken all sorts of designs and personalities. The latest, and arguably coolest, are these Pattern People Karl and Marc Canvas Totes ($45 each). I mean walking alongside the real Karl and Marc would be way more entertaining, but their cartoon versions are second best. I'm all team Karl; Imagine walking into a supermarket with the Kaiser by your side.
