Oh, the perks of being a celebrity. While we have to wait until April 19 for the Loomstate For Target launch, they get to have first dibs days before. But just because we weren't at the launch party doesn't mean we can't spy on the fun. I'm not the only one who hit up Target's Bullseye Bodega in Manhattan in search of cheap and chic finds. A gaggle of stars like Kate Mara also did some shopping last night. The actress, who's been spotted in the front rows of Fashion Week, channeled a rocker chick in her black leather jacket, black skinny jeans, and layered chain necklace. Her Brian Reyes belted linen top, funky tweed clutch, and metallic platform sandals inject some color to the mix.

Fab's Guide To Perfecting the LBD

LBD has become such a household term, it might as well be included in the dictionary. But it pains me when women use black as an excuse to not think creatively. If anything, you have to think more creatively with a LBD; it's a blank canvas waiting to be decorated. Your LBD may not be Fendi, like actress Kate Mara, but that doesn't mean you can't look as Fab. Here's how . . .

Choose an interesting silhouette. Just because it's black doesn't mean it has to be boring. Off-the-shoulder, one-shoulder, halter, cowl, boatneck - find the one that flatters your figure, and most importantly, makes you stand out.
Belt it. Belts have surpassed trend status and are now staples. We have seen them on the runways for countless seasons now. Remember, it was Sex and the City stylist Patricia Field who said belts accentuate a woman's curves and elongate her legs. Done and done.

Fun shoes. Your belt and shoes shouldn't match perfectly. In Kate's case, her Fendi belt and Loubs complement one another but aren't matchy matchy. If your belt is a bold color, I'd opt for black or neutral pumps so as not to look clownish. If your shoes are more subdued, go with a bright-colored belt and jewelry to help the look pop.

Unique bag. The same rule applies to your bag; it shouldn't match your shoes and belt perfectly. Find one that goes with the ensemble but doesn't look like every other bag out there. This is where vintage bags can come in handy. This is your chance to show the world your personal style.
Last words . . . When dressing up your LBD, watch your use of bright colors. You'll have to play around with color combinations, and some us have favorites. Me? Just today I'm wearing black, grey, green and blue. All these colors complement each other, so keep that in mind. In the end, you want your dress (and you!) to be the center of attention, with your accessories acting as accents.

Battle of the Lhuillier: Mara vs. Bell

When I saw these PYTs in lovely Monique Lhuillier frocks for the LA store opening I had to have them battle it out! Lhuillier is both a red carpet and party favorite, so we see her creations a lot - but I never seem to tire of it. These looks, as modeled by Kate Mara and Kristen Bell, are pretty different but both have some asymmetrical detailing going on. Which is your fave?!
