Trend Alert: Safari Gear

I have yet to go on a real exotic and dangerous safari in the heart of Africa - though it is on my list. However, with this Spring's offerings of safari gear I can pretend to be battling overgrown foliage and witnessing nature's beasts in their elements. Or, I can sit at my neighborhood cafe and read I Dreamed Of Africa (tearjerker btw) and look very in vogue. For a needed bit of glamour, I would add an everyday gold necklace and bronzer for that just stepped off a Michael Kors runway look! Here are my picks.

It's a Cashmerical! Cozy Cashmere Sweaters

While I may not be able to wear one of these right now - our office thermostat is on the fritz - I have a few cozy cashmere sweaters I really love. NY Fashion Week: L.A.M.B.

I'm not usually a huge fan of Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. clothing line: It's too busy and flashy for me, and I can't deal with the high doses of gothic lettering and leopard-print motifs. But her Spring 2007 collection, unveiled Friday at
New York Fashion Week, is going in a more appealing direction for me.

Inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer's look in the 1983 film Scarface, the line of evening wear and tailored sportswear was more 1970s New York than 1990s Los Angeles. I particularly liked the floor-sweeping graphic-print dresses, gold-lame hot pants, and the eye-catching octagonal gold belt buckles. There were, however, a few examples of Gwen's stalwart style that I found rather hideous-namely, the rainbow-fade handbag and garish sweats. Fab Flash: "Stylist, The Interpreters of Fashion" Launch Party

Last night, Style.com hosted the book launch party for its new book Stylist, The Interpreters of Fashion at Skylight in New York. A few of the 16 stylists highlighted in the book made appearances, including W fashion editor Camilla Nickerson, Vogue creative director Grace Coddington, Elle creative director Joe Zee, and Allure creative director Paul Cavaco. Vogue editor Anna Wintour and a gaggle of designers were also there to mingle and show their support, including the L.A.M.B. designer herself, Miss Gwen Stefani, decked out in a fringed checkerboard top and tailored shorts.

The season premiere of Gossip Girl had Blair Waldorf emoting Upper East Side sass in an ensemble that only a true fashionphile can appreciate. While stalking the NYC streets with the always dapper Chuck Bass, the high school graduate wore a decadent brocade dress with a chunky gold chain bracelet. She added a youthful touch by accessorizing with a funky L.A.M.B. clutch and lace-up spectator booties. What a perfect mixture of sophistication and sass - so Blair, so beautiful. Fab Exclusive! Gwen Stefani Talks Tour Wardrobe at Fashion Week

Gwen Stefani took a break from her No Doubt tour to show her Spring '10 designs for L.A.M.B. at New York Fashion Week. She also found time to talk to PopSugar about her tour experience and motherhood.

But what we were most interested in is how she chose her outfits for the tour: "It was actually quite hard because we didn't have a record coming out, so we just went back to basics and tried to pick things that were very classic. Things that I kind of - things I thought just signified me. Then we kind of summed it all up."

My favorite from when I saw ND this Summer was the black-and-white houndstooth sequin jumper - so Gwen, so Fab!
