Fab Body Guide: Elongate Yourself

You've all heard that black makes you look slimmer and taller. While that's true, it's not the only trick in the book. There are a dozen other ways to elongate yourself without having to look goth. Take a look at the real-life examples below. For The Spirit LA premiere, Eva Mendes chose a Bill Blass maxi that, because it grazed the carpet, made her appear taller. Vertical stripes, as shown in the center editorial, and long cardigans, like on Katie Holmes, can also do the trick. Proceed for more tips.

Maxi Dresses: Like in Eva's case, maxi dresses give the illusion of tallness because they provide one straight line from top to bottom, without any interruptions.
Long Cardigans: It's a misconception that everything long makes you look tall. But a long cardigan, past your waist, is one casual way to do it. The darker the color the better.
Long, Wide-Leg Trousers: Be sure to find a style that grazes the floor, and preferably covers your shoes. They're never to be worn with flats, only high heels!
Platforms: It's no secret that platform shoes can literally add inches to your height. For a more subtle approach, choose a shoe with a hidden platform.
Vertical Stripes: Unlike horizontal stripes, which cut you off, vertical stripes keep going and going.

Dress Me Up: The Sexy Librarian

I can never tire of the sexy librarian look. Is it the soft long cardigans? Or maybe it's the notion that you don't have to show a lot of skin to look sexy. Whatever it is, this look paired with some high heels, a la Burberry Prorsum's Resort collection, seems to do the trick. Note how soft fabrics and high heels keep you from looking frumpy, and yes, socks are optional!

Fab Finding Follow-Up: Game Night

Tips For Throwing a Fringe Premiere Party, Walter Bishop Style

Fridays will finally be back to normal with the season four premiere of Fringe tomorrow night at 9 p.m.! If you've been waiting all Summer to see what the heck happened to Peter Bishop, gather a few fellow sci-fi nerds and plan on making a night of it with your own premiere party. And since Walter Bishop is arguably everyone's favorite character, why not theme things out in his honor? Below, a few tips to throwing your own Walter Bishop-themed Fringe fete.

Dress the part - Encourage guests to wear their favorite long and oversize cardigans, which is a staple in Walter's wardrobe.
Prepare a candy bar - In honor of Walter's sweet tooth, set up a candy bar so guests can graze. Stock the bar full of Red Vines, cotton candy (blue, not pink), and pudding pops, which are some of Walter's favorites. The bar can come complete with a cocktail of jelly bean "medications" in tiny water cups to replicate Walter's med schedule while he was at St. Claire's.
Sweet and bubbly drinks - Walter loves root beer floats, and I don't blame him. The combo of root beer and vanilla ice cream can keep all your Fringe fanatics happy. Take things a step further and serve them up in lab beakers!
Blueberry Pancakes FTW - Give your guests a break from all the sweet treats by providing them with homemade blueberry pancakes. They're not just for breakfast anymore.
Play Walter Bishop-Themed Games - Walter is the perfect target for an adult-drinking game. Air a few episodes in the background while guests are getting settled, and every time Walter mispronounces Astrid's name, drink! Serve shots in test tubes and small volumetric flasks if you can get your hands on them. Or, you could collect some interesting facts from the Fringe Wiki and play a round of Walter Bishop Trivia after the show ends.

Jennifer Garner was in costume yesterday to do reshoots for The Odd Life of Timothy Green. She arrived on set in a light blue, long-sleeved tee before changing into her cardigan and long-skirt combo to shoot alongside costar Joel Edgerton. There's already a trailer for The Odd Life of Timothy Green out, but it seems Jennifer and Joel were required back to complete a few more scenes. Despite the long hours before the camera, Jennifer's had time to hang out with her daughters, Seraphina and Violet, lots over the past few weeks. They've been seen heading off to Violet's regular ballet lessons and enjoying shopping excursions just for Jennifer and Seraphina.
