Users Picks: The Perfect Bridal Blushes!

flutterpie's recommendation is Bobbi Brown's Bridal Face Palette, $50. Although this is technically discontinued, there are many of them still available and brand new on eBay. I am anxious to check this out actually. In theory it sounds fabulous, but it's surprisingly gotten a lot of mixed reviews.

audreystar 's choice for the best all-time bridal blush is MAC's Powder Blush in Dessert Rose, $18. This is an awesome pick. I am a huge fan of this color - in fact my Mom has been wearing it for years. I guess Mom really does know best, huh?

Last but not least, DCStar chose Tarte Cheek Stains, $28, as her bridal blush pick. Although, I'm not a huge stain person, this is something that the natural bride might love since stains tend to give your face a warm flush without making you look overdone. I think the blushing bride color looks interesting, it's more peach than red, which I like. Hey, maybe you'll convert me DC Star!

Old School Lipstick Shades We Love

If you're like me and you love to play with makeup, then you can appreciate finding affordable and fabulous drugstore cosmetics to throw into the vast mix that is your makeup bag. For example, if you are going to try the smoky eye look, then you've got to downplay your lips. But if you are just going to wear some mascara, then you'll need something with a little more color. So why not try some tried and true lipsticks from the 1980s and early 1990s? Here are a few of my favorites.

Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl Lipstick in Silver City Pink is an oldie but goodie. It's smooth and rich in color, and if you are going for a dramatic effect on your eyes, this is a fantastic, pale shade that suits all eye colors. Buy it here for $5.03.

Remember how cool it was when professional makeup became mainstream? The deep, neutral M.A.C. Lipstick in Taupe came out around the same time as Bobbi Brown's brownish lipsticks and natural-looking eyes became popular. Last but not least isClinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, which has long been a fave of teens and preteens everywhere. With its deeper yet super-sheer pink blush shade, this is sort of in between a lip gloss and a lipstick. It's super moisturizing, and you can apply it all day long without it getting cakey and thick on your lips. This color has the "it" quality to really make your eyes pop and your teeth look whiter. How To: Create Fabulous Cheek Contours

If only we could all be born with naturally high and defined cheek bones. Most of us, however, need a little help to get the perfect contour and shape. Here's how to create that model-esque look in three easy steps.

First, apply a foundation that's one or two shades darker than your skin tone to the area of your cheeks that hollows out when you pucker up. Blend well, so that there's no line. I recommend MAC Cosmetics Hooked Bronzing Powder which you can buy here for $19.50.
Next, use a peachy apricot or a brown-based blush on the apples of your cheeks and be sure to blend well. I really like Nars Blush in Gina for medium skin tones or Orgasm for fairer skin. You can buy them here for $25.
Lastly, shine and define. Use a light golden or shimmery yellowish powder on the area right above your cheekbones. One swipe with the brush should be enough for a glowing accent. I recommend Diane Von Furstenberg Eclipse Highlighting Powder in Sunshine. Buy it here for $30.

We all know about my lipgloss addiction, but since you can no longer fly with lipgloss, it's time to explore other options! Lucky for us there are some amazing moisturizing lipsticks out there that will work just as well!

Mix It Up with Lip Pencils

Despite my well publicized lip gloss fetish, I usually like to start off the work day with a berry-tinted matte look. Here's a peek into my morning lip routine:

First and foremost, I swear by Benefit's fabulous Lip Plump product, available from Benefit for $20. A silky, creamy lip foundation, it does a wonderful job of smoothing out the surface of your lips and provides a great neutral base for whatever color you choose.

Next, I outline my lips with a MAC Lip Pencil in either Burgandy (for red days), Beet (for plum days) or Chestnut (for brown days). Available from MAC for $12.50.

Finally, I apply my one-color-fits-all Origins Berry Lip Pencil, available from Origins for $12. Matte, but moist, I think the berry color does a great job of blending whatever liner color I choose for that day and gives me all the color of lipstick without the heaviness.

FABTV: Fleetwood Mac Live "Rhiannon"

This week I saw Fleetwood Mac live for the first time - and it won't be the last. I went through a FM period in college, but I didn't expect to be so mesmerized. Touted as one of the most incestuous and drama-filled groups - I mean, it was the '70s and they were all hot - the remaining members are the majestic Stevie Nicks, silly drummer man Mick Fleetwood, the electric Lindsey Buckingham, and bassist John McVie. You all know who my eyes were on all night. Stevie is the coolest - what I would give to raid her costume trunk. My favorite song performed was "Gold Dust Woman." She put on this special beaded gold shawl for it - oh, and by the end of the night, she was wearing a top hat. If you've never seen FM live, I found a gem of a performance of "Rihannon." Stevie really flies and her sheer black getup is totally awesome. Rock on . . .

New from MAC, is their most fabulous lipglass addition, called Couture Lipglass, $20.00. This super sheer, extraordinary lip shine leaves your lips feeling soft and cushioned. It's not nearly as sticky as the original lipglass and has more of a smooth look to it.

2010 Spring Paris Fashion Week: Chloé

You can spot a Chloé a mile away. That's not to say Hannah MacGibbon has a formula, but rather, a distinct aesthetic, which has come to define the house. While Spring '10 was muted in color, it was bursting in silhouette. Hefty ponchos, cropped capes, leather boy shorts, sharp suits, and leather overalls were among the offerings. A major theme was crisp button-down shirts, buttoned all the way to the top. In that sense, this collection is buttoned-up. It's a collection for a warrior woman, one who isn't afraid to embark on an unknown journey, stylish poncho in hand.

So as not to abandon her more flirtatious customer, however, Hannah added a few flowy skirts and an airy white accordion-pleated frock - wedding dress anyone? And for the denim-loving gal, one look: a patched button-down denim shirt and comfy jeans. Onward ho!

Which Fashion Mommy Is Most Fab?

I don't live in London, but thanks to the paparazzi, I know that Elle MacPherson, Stella McCartney, and Claudia Schiffer drop their kids off at the same school almost every morning. Day in and day out, these three fashionable mommies put their best boot forward. Elle always look boho with fur; Stella struts tough in leather and great outerwear; and Claudia exudes '70s chic in light hues and flared jeans. I hope I look that amazing when I drop my kids off at school in the future! Examine the three, then tell me who's most Fab.
