We're going to be seeing a lot more of socialite Olivia Palermo since she's part of Whitney Port's upcoming reality show The City. Last night, she attended an event hosted by Kenneth Cole in a dainty, yet slick, ensemble worth mimicking. She opted for a red ruffle skirt, a black blazer, and dressed up her neck with two unique necklaces. Fall is all about rich colors and flattering layers, and Olivia has it down.

Maison Martin Margiela Fall 2012

There was an ease to Maison Martin Margiela for Fall 2012, and even though the house promoted some interesting ideas - maxi skirt sliced halfway off, anyone? - the majority of the collection was filled with softly tailored separates and outerwear that had a clean, classic timelessness to it. But first, those interesting ideas: turtlenecks that covered models' faces, and dresses and skirts that looked like someone took scissors to a kimono and then stitched it all back together. It still managed to feel clean and precise, perhaps another reference to Japan.

Trends: menswear, kimono-inspired dressing, peplum, deconstruction, and monochromatic dressing.
Colors: black, white, red, camel, and brown.
Key Piece: The menswear-inspired overcoats.
Who Would Wear It: This is for the edgy girl who grows up and wants to look a bit more tailored, but not by mainstream standards - Kristen Stewart of the future.

We can't help but want to travel to far-off places (all while looking chic, of course) after spotting ShopStylist sullivantastic's Carven map print-infused dress mood board. Something about Fab reader Greaseandglamour's sophisticated ensemble reminded us of Upper East Side-meets-Gossip Girl luxe and to (double) top it off, we love how she made it distinctly her own. First, she paired a collared blouse with slouchy Maison Martin Margiela sweatpants. Then, she put not one, but two coats - a slick trench and a white fur jacket - on to keep the outfit layered and Winter-to-Spring ready. Her gold collar necklace and large two-toned portfolio clutch provided the final touches to a sleek look.

eLUXURY and Fab Play Dress Up: Marc Me

I was so proud of Marc and his Marc Jacobs collection last night, and I was very happy to be dressed in his contemporary line today.

Some days, an LBD does the job. Actually, most days. This Marc by Marc Jacobs Ruffled Jacquard Dress lasted me all day and all night. This dress is slightly '80s, with the asymmetrical zipper, but the faint polka dot print (have to see up close) creates texture and it is so comfortable. I also adore the Marc by Marc Jacobs Metal Check Groovee bag - you may recall it was in this month's most wanted. It's Marc meets Bottega, and the gold woven leather matches all my gold jewelry.

Speaking of, I tend to mix and match metals, and I did just that with the silver zipper, gold detailed bag, and the kitschy Martin Margiela bow ring - which is so fun. Varied metals, along with a smart LBD and purple sunglasses, made for a cool, thoroughly modern, Fashion Week look. What do you think?
