UPDATE: Halston reps have shot down rumors of Oliver Theyskens taking over as its next creative director. "Olivier will never, ever happen," said a source. "It's no secret that [the brand] is struggling - they need a designer who can sell lots and lots of clothes, not just get great press."

After striking a deal with Italy’s Gibò Co. SpA, Rochas is back in business with its newly appointed creative director, Marco Zanini. With no time to waste, Zanini is set to show his first 2009 Fall collection for the label in March.

Marco Zanini, the head designer of women's wear, ready-to-wear, and haute couture at Versace, is joining American brand Halston as creative director, effective after the Spring 2008 Versace show in September. Bonnie Takhar, Halston's CEO, told WWD they were looking for someone who could "pay homage to the heritage of Halston and also bring it into the modern day, with the strength being in... eveningwear and dresses."

After much speculation on who would replace Marco Zanini at Halston, the brand has finally chosen its new successor: Marios Schwab. The London-based designer will take over in July and will unveil his first collection, for Fall 2010, in February. "While Halston's DNA is crucial to its future success, I very much wish to move the brand forward and make it relevant for today," said Schwab.
