And special bonus: the Gossip Girl posing with GG costume designer Eric Daman - hi Eric! But back to Leighton. She shows her extreme side in this galactic frock, open-toe platform booties, and Swarovki spike jewelry. Kick ass.

Marios Schwab Rodin Ruffle Dress: Love It or Hate It?

I'm all for avant-garde dressing - as long as it's flattering. This Marios Schwab Rodin Ruffle Dress ($2,565) will definitely make an artistic statement, but I'm not too sure about the crazy, red ruffles. In fact, it kinda reminds me of black-forest cake with red frosting. Eye-catching, yes. Beautiful? You tell me . . .

Halston Swoops Up Marios Schwab

After much speculation on who would replace Marco Zanini at Halston, the brand has finally chosen its new successor: Marios Schwab. The London-based designer will take over in July and will unveil his first collection, for Fall 2010, in February. "While Halston's DNA is crucial to its future success, I very much wish to move the brand forward and make it relevant for today," said Schwab. "Simple, effortless pieces realized via modern [fabrics] and technology will play a large role in how I will redefine the brand. The clothes will echo the heritage but with a very distinctive, modern feel that is completely new and completely now." Marios will also continue with his own namesake line. An edgy modern Halston? Sounds great to me.

She even has the beachy hair - and Jimmy Choo sandals - to go with. The standout detail on her cool dress is the knot that gives way to a high thigh slit. If you too are feeling knotty, there are hybrids aplenty. Knots are a majestic detail that can make a top, dress, or piece of jewelry unique. I have a twisted pair of studs that always pique interest.

New York Fashion Week ignites some trends, but it's in London where the envelope is pushed beyond the limit. Take, for example, Giles Deacon's Pac-Women. London Fashion Week is nearing completion, but there was enough quirk to last a lifetime, or at least until next season. While overexposure started in New York, the king of quirk, Henry Holland, took the concept to a whole new, playful level. Proceed with caution.

Metallics have been around the block and back. I'm glad to see them taking on new forms and becoming more fluid and romantic. On Our Radar: Topshop Capsule Collections

Fashionable things are brewing over at Topshop. Starting mid-Jan, capsule collections by London-based Jonathan Saunders (Thandie Newton favorite) and Louise Goldin are set to come out. Saunders' pieces include black and grey jersey T-shirts and dresses with geometric prints. Goldin's include knit dresses woven in bright blues, reds, and oranges. Following that, on January 28, more capsule collections will arrive from Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, Todd Lynn, and Richard Nicoll.

Fab Flash: Halston Wants Olivier Theyskens

UPDATE: Halston reps have shot down rumors of Oliver Theyskens taking over as its next creative director. "Olivier will never, ever happen," said a source. "It's no secret that [the brand] is struggling - they need a designer who can sell lots and lots of clothes, not just get great press."

With just months after showing his last collection for Nina Ricci, Olivier Theyskens might already be headed to a new fashion house. Rumor has it Anne Wintour has coaxed Halston to take on her wunderkind as its new creative director position. However, other sources revealed Halston was considering Narciso Rodriguez or Marios Schwab to take over Marco Zanini's position. Nothing is confirmed, but we all know what Anna wants, Anna gets. We'll keep you posted.
