Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Launch Olsenboye For JCPenney

On to the next. The rumors are true: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are launching a juniors line for JCPenney. Olsenboye makes total sense: the sisters began their retailer endeavors in the junior market - it's not to be forgotten.

The line will debut in 600 stores in February, but an innovative marketing campaign will kick off today for three days via an Olsenboye “treat truck” cruising around NYC selling clothes and giving out cupcakes, balloons and pins. The Olsen’s will be making a surprise appearance on one of the three days. As well, empty racks in 50 high-profile stores will be covered in Olsenboye samplings. Come Nov. 6, Olsenboye will be sold on jcp.com and in those 50 stores, including the Manhattan flagship, for a limited time. Updates and a teaser video can be viewed on Olsenboye.com.

The retail prices will range $20 to $50 for casual sportswear and accessories that includes denim, bottoms, tops, dresses, skirts, shorts, jackets, handbags and shoes. Super cool: it will dabble in travel-inspired mini collections, each reflecting the looks and trends of different cities.

What does Ashley say about the news: “Mary-Kate and I watch current trends and see our partnership with JCPenney as an opportunity to add something unique to the marketplace, especially in the current retail climate. Olsenboye is an extension of the Dualstar brand and we feel this collaboration complements and strengthens our business portfolio, delivering trend-based fashion at affordable prices.”

Freaky or Fabulous: Ashley and Mary-Kate's Laced Ears

Girls just wanna have fun. That's exactly what Ashley and Mary-Kate did this past weekend at the Opening Ceremony reception in Japan, when they paired Maison Michel's laced ears with their LBDs - was Madonna on to something? Check out Ashley donning quirky lace Mickey Mouse ears with an LBD from The Row collection, cream coat, Ralph Lauren tortoise sunglasses, studded sandals, and funky red handbag - both from Prada.

Mary-Kate complemented her rabbit ears with a ruffly Toga frock, Prada ankle wrap platforms, and a studded bag from the same designer. No doubt, the two are known for their unique style - play this game to see if you can tell the two apart - and kudos to them for making fashion fun. Elizabeth and James Shoes Online For the Taking!

I was fighting my inner demons in the Neiman's shoe department the other day (it's sale time), when I stumbled across a table of Elizabeth and James shoes. Mary-Kate and Ashley's much anticipated shoe line is out and about. The well-crafted shoes manage to be both unique and wearable, and remember Mary-Kate told me about how the gladiators were inspired by Ashley's trip to Greece? Yamas! These black suede d'orsays are reinvented classics - they look subtly sexy on. Are you impressed?

Elizabeth and James's Fall Chill

It's all about Peter Pan and London life for Elizabeth and James. For Fall, Ashley and Mary-Kate are showcasing their men's line as well as their footwear collection in their imagery. I spy oversize blazers, worn-in stripes, lingerie-like florals, the perfect minimal black pants, and a saucy pair of sculptured shows for the girls. For the boys, we have rugged henleys, vests, and handsome toppers. Over at Off the Rack, we see more of the Liz/James crew and I spy some Victorian black getups and a Fab fuzzy jacket. The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Mary-Kate Olsen

You knew Mary-Kate wasn't going to wear something simple. Far from. She swept through the Met Gala in a vintage Lacroix gown. The draped pleated chiffon bodice over a full ruffled skirt overlaid in metallic lace and silver-embroidered bustier-basque is a mouthful - and it's certainly a complex choice. She looks like she stepped off the set of a period film; is that a good or bad thing?

Independent Spirit Awards: Mary-Kate Olsen

First off, I didn't mention I had an Elizabeth and James conversation with Mary-Kate at Fashion Week - stay tuned for more on that! In the meantime, Mary-Kate showed up in what appears to be a vintage frock. Leave it to the risk-taker to rock wide shoulders and tons of jewels. Never one to be matchy matchy, she also incorporated a white clutch and nude sandals. Love it or hate it?

Are You Interested in Buying Elizabeth and James Footwear?

When we first found out Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen were to create a shoe line with Steve Madden, we were elated with the thought of buying funky footwear at an affordable price. We like the Victorian meets dominatrix style, seen left, but the prices are far from desirable. The collection is set to retail from $195 to $500, which is unusually high since Steve Madden offerings typically range from $70 to $250. The line is slated to hit high-end stores in March; are you still interested in their shoes?
