Since everyone liked yesterday's New Mascara Mania, Part I post so much, here's a look at a few more amazing new mascaras I love. Blinc Kiss Me Mascara creates little tubes around your eyelashes, so that when you wash it off, it comes off in pieces which is kind of cool. Unlike many other brands, which used an oil-based paint, this mascara won't smudge, run, or flake, so by 5 p.m. your lashes look as fresh as they did in the morning. Guerlain Maxi Lash Extreme Volume Mascara is the new talk of the town. It also happens to be the top pick of Sephora's color buyer, Kimberly Chinn, and I can understand why. It acts as a jack of all trades mascara to add volume and lengthen by lifting and coating each lash. Especially impressive is the curling action, which kept me from needing to curl my eyelashes separately. Buy it in four shades here for $26.

New Mascara Mania, Part I

There are so many mascaras out there, I feel like I could try a new one every day. I guess I'm not the only one, because according to the NPD Group, Americans spent $245 million on mascaras at department stores in 2005. That's a lot of loot for lush lashes. To help you choose, here's a look at some of the new lengthening mascaras on the market. (Tune in tomorrow for New Mascara Mania, Part II.) Here are some of my favorites.

Global Goddess Exotic Eyes Lash Building Mascara is by a smaller brand that's making its way into the mainstream. This water-resistant formula is meant to volumize and darken for serious pigmentation, and it contains Japanese camellia oil, African beeswax, and Indian mowrah butter to help soften and add shine. Lancome Défincils High Definition Mascara is out of this world. This has always been one of my top picks, probably because my gorgeous-lashed Mom wears it, and now there's a new formula meant to create even more length and definition. It separates and shapes magnificently and is super safe for those who wear contact lenses. Buy it in four shades here for $22.

The Quest for the Perfect Mascara

For my entire makeup-wearing life, I have been searching for the perfect mascara. I don't think my requirements are any different than anyone else's. I want something that is easy to apply, provides some lengthening and most importantly, won't bleed down underneath my eyes and leave dark circles.

I started out as many teenage girls do, with Clinique's Naturally Glossy, then moved to Lancome's Defincils, then to Bobbi Brown's Everything Mascara and then even to Maybelline's Great Lash. These were all fine and most people rave about them, but I was never 100% satisfied.

Currently I am using Benefit's BADgal Lash and I must say that it might just be my favorite so far. I will keep you posted.

I'd love to know if you have found the perfect mascara and if so, please share!

Au Revoir Clumps! New Bourjois Mascara

For the launch of its latest mascara, Bourjois Paris Cosmetics hired a gaggle of leggy, long-lashed, pink-and-black-clad ladies to march around the Bryant Park tents during Fashion Week. The "protesters" are hard to miss, carrying faux picket signs that read: "Yes To Volume, No To Clumps!" The mock demonstration was staged to create a buzz about the company's new Yes To Volume! No to Clumps! mascara, and passersby could score a full-sized tube of the ultra-volumizing product.

What makes this mascara different from the rest is its fine-toothed comb applicator, which separates your lashes much more precisely than even the newest tube of typical mascara. But its secret ingredient is collagen, which enhances and plumps your lashes. It's intended to be worn in layers to build volume. You can purchase a tube here for $13.50.
