Best of 2009: Favorite High/Low Designer Collaboration

High/low designer collaborations have been in full force for a few years now - with H&M being the innovator. A designer bringing its goods to the mass market is commonplace now, leaving most of you wanting more. We saw some impressive collabs this year, most notably were Erickson Beamon for Target, Matthew Williamson for H&M, Rachel Roy's super-cute Macy's collection, Anna Sui for Target, and most recently, the sizzling Jimmy Choo for H&M. If you recall, one of these put me in a serious shopping frenzy - but which one got you into the store looking for more?

I may not be arriving at my H&M at 7:30 a.m. this time, but I will be there in time to snatch up key pieces from Matthew Williamson's second installment for H&M. If you're into it, check your nearest H&M, as this collection will have wider distribution. Doors open at 10 a.m.! Peruse the collection piece by piece, peep the funny promo video, and don't forget the tantalizing men's collection! So exciting, I can't take it anymore . . .

You didn't think I'd stop with every piece of the women's Summer collection did you? Let's hear it for the boys! Having a designer men's collection is a first for H&M's collaborations - and for Matthew - and he's just the man to inject some exotic into menswear. If you have a bro's birthday coming up or a tropical getaway planned with your man, you may want to take a gander. Sexy boy clothes include funky print shorts, cool blazers, a radical blue leather studded jacket, a saucy trimmed navy suit, and more. And thank you Matthew for modeling some of the items yourself, you sexy beast you . . .

FABTV: Matthew Williamson For H&M Needs a Change

Behold: Matthew Williamson's first commercial for his Summer collection. Directed by Johan Renck, who has directed music videos for artists including Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Beyoncé, it explores the theme "We need a Change." The song itself was produced exclusively for H&M. It features the collection's perennial muse, Daria Werbowy, as well as model Elsa Hosk, and the designer himself - who lands on Earth via meteor surrounded by models in his Summer garb. It's a fun mix of silly and Euro flavor, check it.

Here's what we're dealing with folks: swimwear (two one pieces, three bikinis, one trikini ), a towel, sunglasses, wallets, an overnight bag, a hot-pink stitched jacket, scarves, tunics, dresses, jeans, jean shorts. The only thing I think Matthew forgot when designing his Summer collection for H&M was shoes! But I can't take any more. If you thought his Spring collection was hot, brace yourself for heat exhaustion.

Sneak Peek! Matthew Williamson For H&M Summer Collection

Just when I'd finally come down from my Matthew Williamson for H&M Spring high . . . talk of the Summer collection swarms. Daria serves as the muse again, and this time she's shot by Sølve Sundsbø on the beach in full Williamson flavor. This second installment hits stores May 14 - check to see if it's coming to your local H&M. This collection will have wider distribution and a bigger stock. You know what that means: more MW for H&M in more closets! A men's component is being delivered too, so stay tuned for a sneak peek of that . . . Prepare yourself for colored denim, printed swimwear, bold tunics, exotic dresses, embroidered peasant tops, and much, much more. I even envy Daria's invisible ribbon sandals and her ribboned braid. It's all too Fab, I can't take it, your turn . . .

Stars Get Aboard For Matthew Williamson and H&M

I just got my hands on Matthew Williamson for H&M's debut collection, but now it's all about the upcoming Summer line. Celebrities like Mary-Kate Olsen, Helena Christensen, and Olivia Palermo went all aboard The Majesty boat that was docked at the South Street Seaport in Manhattan. Pink neon lights shone while a performance by Grace Jones amped up the crowd. Those lucky enough to be on board were able to view the Summer collection on models who sashayed throughout the party. "I think it's an amazing collaboration and I think H&M makes really great choices in the designers they pick and Matthew is a given for H&M," said Helena Christensen. The line will be available May 14, but in the meantime, check out the Williamson-wearing attendees.

Matthew Williamson For H&M Burns Through Foggy San Fran

Breathe in, breathe out. This was me last night when trying to fall asleep. You know when you're so excited for something insomnia ensues and obsession overpowers? You all know I've been anticipating Matthew Williamson's H&M collection since the news broke, but I didn't expect to turn groupie . . .
Rise and shine, join the line at the Powell Street H&M. The line was only about eight stylistas deep at this point. PartySugar, also a MW groupie, joined me around 7:30 a.m. - store opens at 10. But something had been brewing behind Fab's scenes, I just didn't want to jinx anything. And then, the fashion gods looked down upon me, and I got the email - I was granted early press access. Not to shop mind you, but to enter the store (this was about 9ish), survey the scene, try things on, take pics, and revel in MWHM. I already had my wish list, as did Party, so you can imagine our elation.

read more. The West Coast district manager, Alexis, dished on how she thought this was the most commercially viable designer collection. Agreed. She was gaga over the leather jacket and the hot pink gold-studded belt. Interestingly, this SF store gets more stock of the designer goods than LA's Beverly Center store; who said SF didn't love to shop? We also chatted about Phase II - the Summer collection, hitting stores May 14. Alexis promised hot bikinis and a fresh geometric print overnight bag (stay tuned for pics!). I had to ask if Missoni for H&M is up next and she replied "no comment" which leads me to think it's true since the news broke just yesterday and she knew what I was talking about, sneaky Fab. We were able to hang tight inside the store, out of the fog, but still not shop, until doors opened at 10 a.m. But our plans of attack were in place. And like that - mayhem. This was my first time really tolerating this. I missed the first collection, Karl Lagerfeld, slept through Stella McCartney, slacked on Viktor & Rolf, cried post Roberto Cavalli, and gave up on Commes de Garcons. But not Matthew. This was my H&M collection. And so, I raced though the racks plucking my new babies, calm as a clam. The dramatic ruffled print maxi dress was the first to go. And in person, this one was amazing; the black sequined detailing was divine. The short version of this was a hot one, too. And as celebrities still work their PR magic, the sequined artsy dress worn by Ginnifer Goodwin and the peacock dress modeled by both Nicky Hilton and Katy Perry were gone in no time. None of these screamed Fab. I added the glam rockin' blue blazer, the yellow embroidered top, the pink feathered cardigan, the butterfly tee, and the hot pink studded belt to my arsenal.
