With all the dazzle and dressing up during the holidays it's best to leave some things minimal, or rather, nude. When holiday parties abound, a nude lip whispers subtle femininity. This trend has been gracing the pouts of Hollywood, as seen in this weekend's Life & Style, as well as the Spring '07 runways, as beauty marked by CocoChic. This look is especially necessary when glamming up your eye makeup - to create balance and maintain a complete, not overtly made up, face.

Idiot-Proof Eye Makeup

I love eye makeup, but I am sort of a klutz when it comes to applying it, and judging from the comments on this site, I think many FabSugar readers feel the same way. That's why I've been delighted by all of the idiot-proof eye makeup on the market lately. Here's a look at the easy-to-use, no-fail eye makeup you should have in your arsenal.

ROLL-ON EYE SHADOW

Sue Devitt E-Z Rollerball Eye Shadow, $18, available in 11 different colors here. These shadows take a page from roll-on lip gloss or deodorant, so you can roll right onto your lids. No brush required.

EYE-SHADOW PRIMER
Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow Stick, $20, available here. Apply this foundation before putting on your other eye makeup, and it creates a dry, matte surface that makes eye shadow go on smoothly and stay put without the ugly creases.

Using a sponge that dips into a reservoir of powder, this eye shadow is applied like eyeliner so it's nearly impossible to mess up.

FELT-TIP EYELINERS

The Quest for the Perfect Mascara

For my entire makeup-wearing life, I have been searching for the perfect mascara. I don't think my requirements are any different than anyone else's. I want something that is easy to apply, provides some lengthening and most importantly, won't bleed down underneath my eyes and leave dark circles.

I started out as many teenage girls do, with Clinique's Naturally Glossy, then moved to Lancome's Defincils, then to Bobbi Brown's Everything Mascara and then even to Maybelline's Great Lash. These were all fine and most people rave about them, but I was never 100% satisfied.

Currently I am using Benefit's BADgal Lash and I must say that it might just be my favorite so far. I will keep you posted.

I'd love to know if you have found the perfect mascara and if so, please share!

Fabulous Felt Tip Eyeliners

Drugstore brands may be onto something sweet here. These new felt-tip eyeliner pens are fool-proof and fantastic. These soft and smooth products are like using an actual felt marker to draw on your eyeliner. I know that I've been talking about different eyeliners a lot lately, but these are pretty fresh. When using them, just be careful to use a light touch if it's your first time.

No-Mess Powder Eye Shadows

I already told you about the benefits of the new no-hassle roll-on eye shadows. Now, here's another option for those of us who could use a little help getting our eye shadow right: powder eye shadows that you apply like eye liner. These products have the consistency of regular powder eye shadows, but with their self-contained wands, they're much easier to apply. Get the Red Out

Covering up a screaming red blemish is hard enough. But to make matters worse, the redness often remains long after your zit clears up. The best way to get rid of red skin? Cancelling it out with green cover-up. (If you remember your color wheel, green and red are complementary colors.) To use, just apply the green concealer over the problem spots, blend it ever so slightly, and layer your everyday foundation over it. You'll be amazed at how it virtually erases redness.
