If you find liquid foundations to be too heavy, you might want to try one of the new mineral powder foundations that are all the rage right now. These mineral-based, talc-free makeups provide the finished look and coverage of foundation, but they are very lightweight and won't dry out your skin. In fact, you'll be amazed how polished you can look by just applying powder. Plus, many of these products contain sunscreen, too.

However, the brush you use to apply the foundation is very important: Each manufacturer makes its own special brush, but it's not just a ploy to get you to buy one; invest in the corresponding brush if you want to try this makeup. Here's a look at some of my favorite mineral foundations.

So how can we supercharge our grocery dollars and get them to do overtime for us?

Yes, some foods are obviously a better nutritional deal than others (think apples vs. potato chips), but there’s another class of foods that blows the rest of the field away in terms of nutrients and health-protecting qualities: superfoods.

Superfoods can help prevent diabetes and heart disease, repair damage to your body’s cells, and more. But before you go piling them into your cart, know that some superfoods are better nutritional bargains than others. As a doctor and a mom, I’ve sleuthed out which ones are worth the extra cost in terms of their long-term health benefits. Below is the scoop on which ones may help you age better, ward off cancer, and more.

What to Know Before Buying Superfoods

Before we dive into what to buy, there are a few important things to remember about consuming these foods:

Eating foods fresh and in their natural state, especially fruits and vegetables (rather than in pill or powder supplement form), usually allows us to absorb the greatest amount of their nutrients. The way a superfood is processed or cooked can significantly lower its antioxidant content.
If the superfood can’t be eaten fresh, look for easy and appetizing recipes containing it. No matter how “super” a superfood may be, if you don’t know how to cook it, you’ll probably let it go to waste.

What We're Sweet On: (Really) Natural Mineral Makeup

If you're into luxe mineral makeup and skin-friendly ingredients, you might want to put Kide on your radar. The line of baked foundations, concealers, and highlighters, is mica-based, and doesn't contain talc or bismuth oxychloride (the ingredient responsible for the itchiness that sometimes accompanies mineral makeup). Plus, the light reflectors and pigments aren't a bunch of filler metals and lake colors you've never heard of. It's just mica, iron oxide, tourmaline, copper, and diamond dust. The stuff is not cheap at $85 per item, but neither, thankfully, are the ingredients.

The only drawback we see with it is that, since it's a powder, it's not great for people with dry skin, especially if you live somewhere with cold weather that exacerbates the problem. Otherwise, the packaging is great, the products (especially the highlighters) are gorgeous, and the formulation is outstanding.

How To Get Angelina Jolie's Signature Makeup Look

Although Angelina Jolie's look used to be pretty eclectic, over the past few years she has toned down the wild child in her and her beauty has become very classic. Maybe it's motherhood, maybe it's love. Who knows, but something about her is glowing.

If you notice, she doesn't really wear a lot of makeup. She definitely tends to focus on her eyes and her lips, both of which are assets that always seem to score her on both male and female top ten hottie lists.

Her makeup artist, Matin Maulawizada, has some great insight into creating Angelina's look for yourself at home. For tips and product suggestions,

SKIN: Begin by smoothing a hydrating moisturizer such as Lierac Aqua D Moisturizer ($45) to the face and neck.
FACE: Next, use a sponge to apply a light layer of medium coverage oil-free foundation to the face. Matin favors Laura Mercier Foundation in Honey Beige ($40) on Angelina.
CONCEALER: To brighten up the eyes and cover any redness or broken capillaries, dab on an easily blendable concealer like Stila Cover Up Stick in Shade B ($18).
SET: For a flawless face, dust a little bit of Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil Powder ($19) (make sure it's totally translucent) over your face to set your makeup and create a matte finish.
CHEEKS: Go light on the cheeks with just a single strike of cream blush. I really like Fresh Cream Blush in Age of Innocence ($28). Apply to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards and outwards for a natural looking flush.
EYES: Here's the fun part! Angelina has been known to put this Guerlain Terracotta Loose Kohl Powder in Deep Charcoal Black ($32) on the radar of many a beauty junkie. She uses it all of the time for red carpet events. Apply in a thick line to the upper lids then smudge the outer corners for a smoky effect. Apply in a thinner line to the lower lids. For a more detailed explanation of how to create a heavily lined eye, click here. Apply a white shadow to the top of your lids and finish with two coats of lengthening mascara.
LIPS: Lastly, line lips lightly with a nude liner and then apply a creamy lipstick such as Lola Lip Cream in Cashmere ($20) - a chestnut brown color to the lips. Apply with a lip brush for optimum coverage.

First you need to learn how to pack your bag. The goal is to avoid succumbing to that 500-calorie muffin or wasting even more calories on forbidden fast food. There will be lots of temptations during your upcoming travel but take my advice and you won’t have to worry about poundage.

Preempt nervous noshing or being trapped in your parents' processed food palace by prepacking your bags with energizing and immune-boosting snacks.
- Raw almonds or sunflower seeds for a good dose of vitamin E
- Broccoli and hummus
- Dark fruits, berries, or citrus
- Greek yogurt - a great source of probiotics and vitamin E
Your favorite tea or water boosters - anything that will motivate you to stay hydrated. I pack my Vitamin Mineral Powder and supplements in my Wellness Survival Kit.
Immune-boosting vitamins. You may or may not be taking these but studies show that probiotics, omega-3, and a multivitamins can be powerful wellness boosters. When I’m traveling, I don’t leave without these or my B-12 Spray.
