Beauty Marked: A New Hand Cream

Hey everybody! If you remember, last week I sent you on a mission to help me replace my L'Occitane Dry Skin Hand Creme that expired. I really truly love this cream, but the last time I went to use it, the smell deterred me.

Beauty Mark #1 found by swwonder is Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream, $4.39. It is a concentrated hand cream that began as a way to help the dry chapped hands of Norwegian fisherman who faced extremely harsh and cold weather.

It contains high levels of glycerin and no irritating fragrances. It took five years of development and clinical testing to finally arrive! Also, this lil' tube will last you a long time - over 200 applications.

Beauty Mark #2, found by missixty02, is Bliss High Intensity Hand Cream , $18. This cream is supreme for softening dry, rough skin. It's an ultra rich hand balm that works great for raggedy cuticles too. It is made from a non-greasy feeling formula which contains grape-seed and macadamia extract so it smells deeeeeeelish too!

Beauty Mark #3 found by jennifer76, and flutterpie is Kiehl's Unusually Rich-But Not Greasy At All-Hand Cream with SPF 10 $15.50, is a cream that is not only rich enough to cure your dry hands, but it also offers sun protection! This unique formula absorbs into your skin without that icky, greasy feeling.

Last summer I wrote about a few fabulous hand creams that help maintain these over-used helpers. Now that it's winter, hands need special attention - I know every handbag of mine has a little sample-sized tube of something in it. Ziploc Bag Beauty, Part I: Maximize Your Baggie

Just Say No to Tanning

I love the healthy glow of tanned skin, but considering the health implications, I'd rather get a fake tan than a real one. That's why I love this new Neutrogena Pale Is the New Tan T-Shirt. The word "pale" is spelled out in crystals that change color in the sun, making this cute pink tee a subtle way to spread awareness about skin cancer. A Healthy Winter Tan

This Sunday marks the end of Daylight Saving Time, which means the days are going to get shorter. But just because the sun is going to be scarce doesn't mean you can't maintain a light, healthy-looking tan. (Please, just don't go overboard!) The advances in self-tanning products over the past few years have been so remarkable that there's really no excuse to lay out in the sun any more. Here are my favorite self-tanners for instant and gradual results for the face and body.

FOR QUICK RESULTS
Neutrogena Sunless Tanning Spray Micro Mist Medium, $10.99, available here. I've heard some people complain that this gets splotchy if your skin has dry patches, but I have dry skin and I've never had a problem. Just make sure to apply right after exfoliating in a moisture-free room (i.e., not the bathroom you just showered in) and rub it in for extra blending.

FOR THE FACE
Clarins Tinted Self Tanning Face Cream SPF 15, $28, available here. This amazingly even tinted lotion gives you a bronzed look while the self-tanner is working, and the added SPF 15 sunscreen keeps your face protected from the actual sun when you're outdoors.

FOR A GRADUAL TAN
Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer for Medium Skin Tones, $5.99, available here. Given, this product is slightly overexposed, but for good reason. The serious budget buy is one of the best gradual-tanning lotions out there. It goes on smooth without streaks and has a wonderful clean scent to boot.

A Lip Gloss That Soothes

When it comes to impulse buys, I have a real weakness for lip gloss. In fact, I first was tempted to try this Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soother Cooling Hydragel because the cute little tube caught my eye in the cosmetics aisle at Walgreens. I was also curious about the so-called "lip soother" feature. After buying the product in the Gleam shade, I have to say I'm quite pleased with this purchase. The lip gloss has SPF 20, which is good for sunny days, and the color is nice and very subtle. Also, it does create a cooling sensation when applied and feels almost like lip balm, but not as intense. You can buy it here for $6.99.

Get the Red Out

Covering up a screaming red blemish is hard enough. But to make matters worse, the redness often remains long after your zit clears up. The best way to get rid of red skin? Cancelling it out with green cover-up. (If you remember your color wheel, green and red are complementary colors.) To use, just apply the green concealer over the problem spots, blend it ever so slightly, and layer your everyday foundation over it. You'll be amazed at how it virtually erases redness.
