Black is back. But while most stars are turning to LBDs, Lindsay Price is doing her own thing. The actress attended the 2nd annual H.E.L.P. Malawi fundraising event in NYC in an all-black ensemble that dazzled from head to toe. I love that she paired up different fabrics - a satin tulip skirt with a rayon cocoon top. The oversized stone and chain necklace and gold sandals provide just enough variation. What a wonderful holiday party outfit!

FABTV: Nina Garcia Gets Tagged by Barnes & Noble

Nina Garcia's first two books were so popular, she has penned a third: The Style Strategy: A Less-Is-More Approach to Staying Chic and Shopping Smart ($17). Barnes & Noble Tagged! sat down with the stylish fashion editor of Marie Claire to discuss her new read. Nina has a toddler now, so her advice is mainly for women who don't have time - baby or not. I'll let you hear it for yourself, but a few things she advocates this time around: prints, strategic shopping, and getting more bang for your buck.

Nina Garcia is proving to be quite the authority on penning style. The Elle fashion director turned Marie Claire fashion director and Project Runway judge is also a Fab favorite - remember she answered all your burning fashion questions a while back? With her surely busy schedule, and following her first book, Nina has released The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own ($15), available for preorder. Like her first book, Ruben Toledo illustrations accompany witty and exact writing. Unlike her first book, it's silver, denser, and yours truly is featured on page 29! How exciting is that? (Thanks, Nina)I've given it a good flip through and I already own many of her 100 suggested items to style salvation. Phew - knowing Nina she would have convinced me to get all 100. But what's cool is, even though I own a monokini, I did not know the Vatican denounced it in 1964. And these are the sort of fashion nuggets Nina shares. Make sure to add this one to your Summer reading list, stat.

Fab Read: Nina Garcia's Little Black Book of Style

The season premiere of "Project Runway" may still be seven weeks away (49 days to be exact), but we've got plenty of projects to keep us satisfied. There's "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style," which we're obsessed with, and Heidi Klum's Very Sexy Makeup Collection, and now there's Nina Garcia's book The Little Black Book of Style, on sale for $13 (originally $18). This book, according to Nina, is not "A book of rules. It is a book on style." Just what you would expect from the "Project Runway" judge and ELLE fashion director.

The book itself is the LBD of fashion guides - sophisticated, elegant and timeless. It offers tips on how to: be your own muse (confidence trumps beauty), invest in wardrobe staples (ballet flats, cashmere and diamonds) and "what to wear when" (just say no to sweatsuits on planes). Overall, Nina offers very sage advice for both the savvy shopper and ensembly challenged.

Cruise 2008: Nina Ricci

He's been at Nina Ricci a very short time, but Olivier Theysken's designs for the label have already been caught up in a whirlwind of hype - I'm thinking of the deal Anna Wintour's golden boy brokered with Reese Witherspoon for this year's award season, for instance.

For Cruise, Olivier carries over the blustery bluish-grey color scheme from his Fall 2007 Nina Ricci collection, as well as that asymmetrical dress silhouette which has treated him well. But the collection does have its hits and misses - I like the crocheted top and puffball skirt at left, but I'm not so sure about the color-washed footless tights. There are also a couple of nice skirt suits in the collection, but I still stick to what I always say about Olivier: his strength is in his gowns.

The Bag to Have: Nina Ricci Pony Bag

We all know Nina Ricci delivers amazing clothes but did you know the fashion house also creates comparable handbags? Take for instance this divine Nina Ricci Pony Bag ($2,800) from the new Ondine line. OK, with the exception of celebs - Rihanna was spotted donning the same exact style and Uma Thurman in a similar version from the same collection - and other money-making moguls, no one can really afford the hefty price tag. However, we can appreciate the fine design. I'm lusting over the sleek pony hair texture and chain handle. The best thing about is that it's simultaneously sassy and sleek. Functional and fabulous? It doesn't get any better than this . . .

What are the top five out of your 100 items every women must have?

Jeans, white man’s shirt, heels, little black dress, diamonds.

How do you and Ruben Toledo collaborate on the illustrations?

Ruben is a genius. I sent him a list and he just turned out some of the most beautiful illustrations I have ever seen. He knew exactly what vision I had for every item. In fact, I think he knew better than me what I wanted the book’s aesthetic to be. He captured the essence of what I had in mind just perfectly.

Who do you think is the most stylish celebrity?

I can’t pick just one. I am always in awe of women like Elle MacPherson, Kate Moss, and Dita von Teese. They all have a distinctive personal style and they stick to it, irrespective of trends.

Besides your own closet, where else did you draw inspiration from for your guide?

From fashionable friends, celebrities past and present, music, movies, museums, great paintings, old photographs . . . and on and on and on . . .

Speaking of closets, how long should you wait to throw out an item in your closet you haven’t worn in a while?

If you haven’t worn an item in a year, it’s time to consider parting ways. However, if it’s a Pucci dress or a Missoni knit that you are just letting sit out a season or two, of course that stays. But if it’s a pair of pants you haven’t worn in five years, kiss ‘em goodbye.

You mention push-up bras in the book; what kind of bra gal are you?

There are so many factors involved here. It depends on the outfit, the time of day, the occasion, my mood, etc. Undergarments are an important element to your style and should be chosen with as much care as every other element of your look.

Do you own every single item in your guide?

Yes. That said, I am always on the hunt for multiples. A girl can never have enough belts, heels, diamonds, cocktail rings . . .

What will the next book be about? And what color will the cover be (I love the silver)?

I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but right now, I’m focused on enjoying the afterglow from this book.

What’s your favorite pant/jean cut?

I’m a classicist. I like the good old Levi’s 501s.

What emerging designers do you have your eye on?

I am always on the lookout for new, young designers. Right now, I have my eye on Alexandra Wang, Philip Lim, Peter Som, and Chris Benz. But again, there are so many good ones out there!

What trend do you wish would die already?

The new “it jean” emerging every week. Each time someone asks me what the hot jean is, I freeze. I don’t know! I can’t keep up. We must all get back to the days of buying the jean that looks great on you, and fits your body perfectly. When one does, THAT’S the “it jean.”
