Nordic prints, also known as Fair Isle, have made a major comeback and I can see why. This interesting knit goes hand-in-hand with today's unfussy style and can brighten up any gloomy Winter palette. For instance, Ashley Tisdale's tee and denim combo would be nothing special without the help of her pretty Nordic cardigan sweater. Notice how the intricate print adds instant style to her casual outfit. Too busy for your taste? Take this trend in small doses via fun scarves or gloves.

Trend Alert: Cozy Sweater Coats

Living in SF, I'm about all about layering. That's where cozy sweater coats come in handy. The recent influx of Aztec, Nordic, and Navajo prints have me in a fashion tizzy - I think I need one of each. Solid neutral and jewel toned hues are also available for those who prefer more polish. Here's a Fab tip: wrap it up with a belt for a chic, cinched look. Wouldn't this Silence & Noise Intarsia Cardigan ($68) be a great gift for a dear BFF? Time to bundle up!

Designer Spotlight: H Fredriksson

Some designers are influenced by art and nature, and others, like Helena Fredriksson, are affected by Ingmar Bergman's trippy, psychoanalytic films. Using sustainable fabrics and practices, the Brooklyn dweller visited the dark side for Fall, offering up a variety of draped dresses, moody Nordic-print tops, and avant-garde skirts. Her modern cuts are to die for and I'm entranced by her gloomy, romantic vibe.

Look of the Day: Fair Isle Cutie

Like Ashley Tisdale, adhusia is a fair isle cutie. But unlike the actress, she opted to give her Nordic print a fancy twist. Take note of the contrast between the sophisticated dress and the casual cardigan. Oh, and those booties pull in major attitude.

Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Chanel

Here is Karl Lagerfeld's winter wonderland. And what a joy it is! The Chanel Fall 2007 collection was not as jaw dropping as the sharp, masterfully black and white Spring collection but it was yummy nonetheless.

Joining Marc Jacobs on the ice skating rink (now there's a funny visual), this collection was youthful and fun. I don't recall such a colorful collection from Chanel in so long! A plethora of Nordic prints, patent detailing and colorful tweeds lightened the mood. Dresses styled over pants were a cool twist; crimped hair added zest. The finale dresses are guaranteed winners with sharp draping, sequin accents and roped straps. A jeweled bib on a modern black dress made me swoon. And look at how cute this Lagerfeld penguin is on this sweater? Too cute for school!

London Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Marc by Marc Jacobs

One of my faves, Marc Jacobs, debuted his Marc collection in London this time around and it was a sweet finale to London Fashion Week. Why London? Possibly to celebrate the opening of his first London store? I think so.

With models resembling urban ice-skating princesses, this collection got my Spring-anticipating self back in Winter mode. Some Fall trends showed up: plaid, fur, velvet and grey, while Marc added his own youthful flair with pom pom berets and cozy layering. Warm woolies and Nordic prints are sure to be bestsellers as well as adorable, yet grown up, coats. The color palette managed to be both warm and cool; textures were mostly heavy but an ivory silk lightened the mood. I don't think the cropped high waisted pants (especially with suspenders) will go over as well as say, the flirty pleated wool skirts or hands free bags. Although Selma Blair looked pleased, sporting a platinum-do in the front row. A chili pepper tailored dress with tied belt was a standout and I am a sucker for toggle closures and cropped sleeves. Oh! And check out the cutie patootie ice-skating-esque boots.
