Olivier Theyskens may no longer be at Nina Ricci - major bummer - but that doesn't mean he's idle. The designer is penning a book - Olivier Theyskens: The Other Side of the Picture - to be published by Assouline. Come January, you will be able to experience the Belgian designer via decades worth of backstage photos documented by photographer Julien Claessens. I'm so looking forward to getting to know Olivier beyond the runway.

Fab Flash: Halston Wants Olivier Theyskens

UPDATE: Halston reps have shot down rumors of Oliver Theyskens taking over as its next creative director. "Olivier will never, ever happen," said a source. "It's no secret that [the brand] is struggling - they need a designer who can sell lots and lots of clothes, not just get great press."

With just months after showing his last collection for Nina Ricci, Olivier Theyskens might already be headed to a new fashion house. Rumor has it Anne Wintour has coaxed Halston to take on her wunderkind as its new creative director position. However, other sources revealed Halston was considering Narciso Rodriguez or Marios Schwab to take over Marco Zanini's position. Nothing is confirmed, but we all know what Anna wants, Anna gets. We'll keep you posted.

2009 Fall Paris Fashion Week: Nina Ricci

It's a shame, really. We were all pretty bummed when we heard the news of Olivier Theyskens leaving the house of Nina Ricci. So what if his creations weren't commercial? His creations were otherworldly, so special. With a lighter touch than most, Theyksens still managed to deliver strong silhouettes and a slightly bent perspective. With a vengeful hand, in his last collection for the house, he stuck it to the man.

I do spy a commercially viable stiff purple metallic coat and a red carpet-worthy eggplant dramatic swirl gown. Oh, and hello hot pink! And there was enough drama for your grandmama via invisi heel platforms, a copper bodysuit, high/low hemlines, and languid pants. Signature Olivier splashes, like trickles of beading and Edwardian jackets, make things extra special. We have no doubt the gentile designer will find the silver lining - may his erstwhile employers eat it up.

Last night, Renee Zellweger showed her support for ex-Nina Ricci design head Olivier Theyskens and shined in a ravishing red Nina Ricci dress and suede Louboutin pumps. Her sizzling hot look is nothing short of perfection; I like how she added extra dazzle by wearing a bright red cocktail ring. It's simultaneously sultry and sophisticated. Awesome.

Fab Flash: Theyskens Out, Copping in at Nina Ricci

UPDATE: Nina Ricci has officially confirmed Peter Copping as its new artistic director. Copping's first order of business for the fashion house is to design a capsule resort collection for Ricci’s flagship boutique on the Avenue Montaigne and shops worldwide.

UPDATE: Olivier Theyskens and Nina Ricci have officially parted ways. In a joint statement from both parties, Theyskens left the French fashion house on March 10, earlier than his contract which expires in October. Louis Vuitton alum, Peter Copping, is expected to take over as the creative director for Nina Ricci. Theyskens is said to be considering a relaunch of his namesake label. Good luck Olivier, we look forward to seeing more beautiful designs from you!

Bummer. The rumors are confirmed - Olivier Theyskens is officially out at Nina Ricci. Why? Apparently, Theyskens and management clashed; management wanted to go commercial and Theyskens didn't. Adding salt to the wound, speculations for Olivier's replacement have already been announced. The fashion house is looking to steal Marc Jacobs's golden boy at Louis Vuitton: Peter Copping. The designer apparently turned in his resignation at Louis Vuitton after meeting with Ricci's parent company, Puig Fashion Group.

Olivier's contract with Nina Ricci officially terminates in late October, which means we'll potentially see two more collections from the boy wonder but rising tensions could lead to an earlier check-out date.

Fab Flash: Nina Ricci Delves Into Accessories

“When the economy changes, it’s not like you want to start eating bad-tasting chocolate,” said Nina Ricci, creative director at Olivier Theyskens. “You have to stay true to what you’re doing, and the house of Nina is about luxury.” That said, Theyskens continues to plunge forward with an expanded accessories collection, which includes a newly unveiled handbag collection and expanded footwear collection.

The handbag collection, ranging from $1,800 to $2,500, consists of hobos, shoulder bags, totes, and clutches made in luxurious leathers and textures, like the ones seen above. “We’ve had a propensity toward so much flash the last few years,” said Theyskens, “and I wanted to make something classic with simple hardware. For shoes, Theyskens designed platform pumps and booties adorned with unexpected details. Both collections will be available come Spring.

Natasha Poly must be the object of envy from her model friends, because she's the new star of Nina Ricci's Fall '08 ad campaign. It looks like Spring's girls Karlie Kloss and Courtney Smerski couldn't hold their own for another season. Like in past Nina Ricci ads, these shots are slightly brooding and heavy, but it's the right look for autumn. What captures my interest - besides the rich clothing - is the movement. They're one-dimensional yet Natasha jumps out at you. And what looks like fairy dust puts some magic in the air. What do you think about Nina Ricci's latest?

Fab Ad: Nina Ricci Spring/Summer '08

Nina Ricci's Spring/Summer '08 ad campaign can easily be mistaken for Fall/Winter ads. The dark hues and layered clothes hardly scream Spring. Clearly that's what Olivier Theyskens was going for so he chose the ideal models - Karlie Kloss and Courtney Smerski - to convey the brooding mood. Regardless of the season, Mario Sorrenti's shots are captivating. They draw you in and make you want to dissect every aspect of each photo. But is it me or is Karlie Kloss (left) slightly upstaging Courtney? It may be her intense glare. What do you think about these ads?

Ellen Pompeo Is Fab's #1 (Today)

Everyone's opinions are always welcome on Fab. I think we can all agree that last night's SAG awards brought out a bevy of beautiful dresses. Whether they were intended for the Golden Globes or not, I say it's always better to overdress than underdress - especially when a red carpet is involved. It looks like Frenchie Marion Cotillard won your votes for best dressed last night. My favorite didn't make your best-dressed list, but I couldn't keep my eyes off of Ellen Pompeo in her liquid velvet Nina Ricci. Do you recall last night during the pre show when she claimed she saw it in the January issue of Vogue and knew it was the one? Fine choice, Ellen. Especially since she won for worst dressed at last years SAG awards. You've come a long way babe.

Also, you may have noticed that your favorite and my favorite are both Nina Ricci by Olivier Theyskens gowns. Get ready because Nina Ricci is about to blow up - in the best way.
