What a sidewalk sight Michelle Williams and little Matilda are. I would totally coordinate my outfit with my little lassie, too. But what's equally stunning here is Michelle's classic wool asymmetrical pea coat by Jeffrey Monteiro. It's official, folks: it's time whip out your tried and true outerwear, including good ol' pea coats. I have a charcoal gray one by Banana Republic that hits the spot for me. Navy and black are fine color choices as well. And the best part? These keep you nice and toasty.

Look of the Day: Effortlessly Put Together

I commend Littlemissme for planning this effortlessly put together ensemble on a weekday; in this day and age it's becoming too easy to throw on a pair of jeans and a hoodie, and run out the door looking like you just rolled out of bed. I especially love that the green peacoat is cropped because if it were a bit longer, it might look outdated. I also admire how Littlemissme coordinated her flats with her tank; it pulls the look together but doesn't come off as matchy matchy.

Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2012

Tommy Hilfiger set the mood for his collection this evening at the Park Avenue Armory creating an Autumnal park paradise complete with wooden benches, pretty Fall trees, The Beatles playing in the backdrop, and even gravel to sink our booties into. As expected, the designer showcased his classic American style, but this time, interjected a completely modern spin to his mix via silk cable-knit printed dresses, luxe leather riding pants, and plenty of Glen plaid suits to go around. The classic pea coat was treated with a brilliant patent finish and trench coats received a smart colorblock detail on the sleeves. There were also plenty of quilted pieces, suede shirtdresses, A-line skirts, and tailored hunting jackets emoted a regal equestrian feel. Hilfiger exemplified the perfect mix of old and new - and we're loving every bit of it.

Trends: Plaid, patent leather, wrap skirts, military, quilting.
Colors: Olive green, brown, burgundy, black, purple, mustard yellow.
Key Piece: We loved Hilfiger's silk cable-knit printed dresses.
Accessories: Knee-high boots, quilted messenger bags, pony hair bags, equestrian riding hats.

Doo.Ri Fall 2012

Doo.Ri's signature draping and understated, flowy silhouettes got textural for Fall 2012. Inspired by Butoh, designer Doo-Ri Chung sent the models - sporting sleek buns and leather headbands - down the runway in a gorgeous array of her draped dresses dipped in pretty hues of dark teal, blush, pearl white, and gray. For a polished touch, Doo-Ri Chung introduced wide-leg trousers, tailored wool coats complete with leather inserts, and an eye-catching array of mixed-knit wraps. Kate Spade Fall 2012

We've yet to visit the famous Cour d'Honneur at the Palais Royal, Deborah Lloyd's inspiration point for her Kate Spade collection, but we can almost feel the excitement translated into her vibrant array of floral dresses, colorblock skirts, electrifying trousers, and irresistible accessories. The designer added a boyish twist - influenced by Garance Doré Parisian chic style - to her signature polish, pairing slouchy sweaters with cheeky printed skirts and casual tees with girlie feathered skirts. The amount of prints could have been overwhelming, but stylist Brad Goreski managed to temper the bright patterns through structured pea coats and separates. Accessories, Kate Spade's bread and butter, did not disappoint; we were enamored with the polka-dot ankle boots, snakeskin envelope clutches, metallic gold loafers, and ladylike satchels. Turkey pot pie is a necessary indulgence in the world of dieting and salads we all seem to be living in. Yoo Eatz gives us a straightforward, weeknight-friendly recipe for a comforting pot pie.

This holiday season came and went like the whirlwind it always is, and I sit here in the aftermath realizing that I have plenty of recipes to catch up on. So let's take a mini jaunt down memory lane to Thanksgiving, shall we?

Being the lucky recipient of my family's turkey carcass, I ended up with about 6 quarts of homemade stock, most of which sits in the freezer waiting for a chilly night when turkey noodle soup is a quick solution to the question "What's for dinner?" Unfortunately for the stock but quite happily for the rest of us San Franciscans, warm weather has taken up temporary residence in these parts, so soup has been on the back burner, so to speak. But back in late November when temps were still brisk in the low 50s (here, my East Coast friends may shout whatever expletives come to mind), comfort foods were definitely on the brain.

Purists will say that a pot pie must be just that: a pie complete with buttery, flaky crust on the top and the bottom. I get it (admission: I love Marie Calendar's frozen chicken pot pies dumped on a pile of hot white rice), but (1) who has time to whip up pie dough on a weeknight?, and (2) it's hardly a light meal. So I substituted store-bought puff pastry for the crust and focused on a rich, hearty filling for my turkey pot pie. For the recipe, read on.
