No year is complete without a few outrageous fashion trends, and we asked you to weigh in on which one had you scratching your head the most. After counting the votes, it was pretty clear that overstuffed gorilla sleeves were the craziest runway trend of 2011 - we saw the look on the runways at Peter Som, Rag & Bone, and Giles, to name a few, making for a pretty unforgettable - and hard to pull off - fashion fad. Encompassing a penchant for laid-back elegance, Peter Som has left the industry smitten with his effortlessly beautiful gowns and separates. With fans ranging from FLOTUS Michelle Obama to celebs like Eva Mendes, it's safe to say the San Francisco native has created a buzz worth talking about. Most recently, the designer teamed up with Rent the Runway to offer a few of his party dresses and shared with us his holiday season indulgences, thoughts on East Coast vs. West Coast style, and celebrities he would like to dress. Listen up:

On East Coast vs. West Coast style: "It's all about the ease and nonchalance of West Coast style mixed with the high-impact glamour of East Coast dressing. In other words - never look like you've tried too hard (even if you did!)."

On celebrities he would like to dress: "There are so many women who inspire me for their talent, spirit, and confidence! I'd love to dress Cate Blanchett."

On his favorite indulgent holiday treat: "I love cooking and baking so it would have to be my Panettone bread pudding."

There's a trend that's suiting up to be big for Spring 2012: full-on, flirty printed suits are looking like a thing, and we're not hating on it. It's a bold look for sure, and one that we've seen on the runways of Peter Som, Cynthia Rowley, and Prabal Gurung - not to mention celebs like Zoe Saldana, who wore a sexy short suit on the red carpet recently. It's a fashion risk, but one that will likely pay off. So tell us, would you rock a printed suit?

Peter Som Spring 2012

Peter Som is always an upbeat show, full of color and print, and Spring 2012 delivered that within a collection that suggests what might happen if Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, and Rachel Bilson became mashed up into one fun-loving, totally polished lady with an edge. There was a '60s vibe in the colorblock coats with pointed collars, high-waist swimsuits, round sunglasses, and floral pantsuits. The women strutted down the runway in platform loafer pumps in seafoam green and patent leather white. Plastic floral necklaces sat atop prim crewneck sweaters and were paired with deliciously fun feathered skirts. Finally, there was a decidely sport edge via jackets in techno twill and lightweight anoraks that were designed to wear over skinny pants and heels.

Trends: Sporty, '60s, colorblocking, florals.
Colors: Red, yellow, teal, seafoam green, pink, blue, florals.
Key Piece:Floral pants (with matching jacket!), leather shift dress in yellow, the feather dresses.
Accessories: platform loafer pumps, plastic floral necklaces.
