10 Crosby Fall 2012

Derek Lam's new venture, 10 Crosby, has fulfilled its cool-girl status for Fall '12. The third collection from the line, 10 Crosby showed plenty of bold prints, sharp tailoring, and just the right amount of femininity to please every downtown girl. Inspired by the classic holiday flick Home Alone, Lam and design director Liz Giardina envisioned what the 10 Crosby girl would wear on a snowy Winter day. With that thought in mind, the two created silky printed palazzo pants, cozy peplum cardigans, fox-fur vests, and pajama-inspired tops tempered with tailored poplin shirt dresses and sharp trousers. Steven Alan Fall 2012

Our New York Fashion Week kickoff began this morning with Steven Alan. For Fall, the designer showed another batch of covetable casual-cum-cool offerings pairing his signature modern classic style with a bold touch of Mexican and folk influence. Full red skirts were paired with riding jackets and fedora hats and structured striped wool vests with slightly flared pants, and there was even a cute vintage-inspired tweed jumpsuit styled with a button-up blouse and cardigan. For a soft touch, the designer also supplied sweet peplum-embellished floral and striped dresses, plaid shirt dresses, and, for a little shine, black and gold brocade dresses and trousers. Admittedly, I’m a huge nerd. I’m freakishly good at video games. There’s not a history exam that I won’t ace (partially because I have a photographic memory, but I am really into world history), and I’m often drawn to the nerdiest of sartorial trends. As luck would have it, geek was a major theme on the Fall runways. Aside from showing you my favorite dorky pieces for Fall, I’d also like to persuade you that nerds come in all forms - sometimes they’re cooler, hotter, and trendier than you’d think. Levi's Warholian Presentation

We're thrilled to present our favorite Lucky story here on Fab!

Seriously, there's nothing (nothing, nothing, nothing) that I love more than a room full of people wearing Levi's. At last night's Levi's fall presentation it wasn't just the models-pretty much the entire crowd paid an homage to the brand. The models-and the clothing-served as their own art installations. There was even a dude in a bathtub!

As our deputy digital editor Steph Trong so eloquently tweeted, "There is something Warholian about these in-situ displays at the Levi's event." And I think she's right-Wooster St. did sort of feel like The Factory. Our favorite pieces: striped sweaters over plaid shirts (side note: plaid. Another trend we won't let die), floral Henleys, fitted army vests and of course SKINNY JEANS.

2011 New York Fall Fashion Week: Rag & Bone

The Rag & Bone show is massive, and it has to be considering its loyal following of editors, It girls and boys, supermodels like Erin Wasson and Jessica Stam - who watch from the front row instead of walking - and ultra cool celebs like Alexa Chung. The Thom Yorke soundtrack suggested a dark and serious show, but what ended up coming down the runway was a rather madcap hunting expedition in the Scottish Highlands. At least that's what I thought until I got the scoop from designer Marcus Wainwright after the show. There were plaid kilts, lots of leather trim, sculpted shift dresses, leg warmers, and even a varsity jacket to keep it sporty. It was a much more rugged collection than last Fall, but there were some luxurious pieces, like an ivory shearling hooded vest and a slew of fantastic leather platform boots.

Trends: Shearling, leather trim, fur sleeves, varsity jackets, '70s ski, Scottish Highland chic, Eskimo.
Colors: Ivory, brown, rust, royal blue.
Key Looks: Anything with shearling.
Accessories: Calf-length brown leather boots with canvas detailing; hooded capelets./li>
