Alistair Carr showed a range of sophisticated offerings for Pringle of Scotland's Fall collection. Incorporating a rich color palette and plenty of cozy texture, Carr created oversized coats embellished with eye-catching colored collars, knitted dresses, and a smart play on twinsets. The latter, showcased layered sweaters made to look like a sweater and shell combo, but is actually just one piece. Pringle of Scotland Spring 2012

Alistair Carr showed his first collection for Pringle of Scotland today to a crowd of celebrities including Tilda Swinton, Harry Potter's Bonnie Wright, and Rosario Dawson. Carr's collection debut, described as The Beatles' “Across the Universe,” featured remixed chain link and argyle prints taken from the archives and turned into modern marvels with a '60s twist via brightly printed split-back dresses, shifts, and knits. Trousers were kept either loose or cropped, and some even featured refreshing slits around the knees and tuxedo stripes. Standout pieces include the purple chain-link print paired with metal cap-toe pumps, colored sunglasses, and the graphic print argyle knit sweaters. It was the perfect mix of modern and vintage from Alistair Carr, and we can't wait to see more from the designer. More highlights from the collection below.

Kate Hudson Steps Out to Support Zach Braff's Play

Kate Hudson, wrapped in a Pringle of Scotland sweater, was back in London last night and ventured out to the Duke of York Theatre to attend a stage production of Zach Braff's All New People. The actors have been friends for years and Zach was even at Kate's 30th birthday party back in 2009.

It's been a busy week full of jet setting for Kate. She recently returned to her part-time home in the UK following a romantic getaway in Mexico with fiancé Matthew Bellamy. Kate and Matt relaxed on the beach in Cancun and played football with their superstar friends like Leonardo Dicaprio and Naomi Campbell. The engaged couple are splitting their time between the West Coast and London while his band Muse puts the finishing touches on their sixth album. Meanwhile, Zach's time overseas may wrap up next month since his play finishes out its 10 week run on April 28.

Meet the New Designer of Chloé: Clare Waight Keller

Another big designer move was announced this morning: Clare Waight Keller is taking the Chloé reigns from Hannah MacGibbon, who is leaving Chloé after 10 years to pursue "new projects," according to WWD. What does this mean for the French luxury house and fans of Chloé's feminine sophistication? You can count on a continued emphasis on knitwear injected with a dose of sexiness. Waight Keller, who like MacGibbon, is British born, just finished a six-year stint as creative director of Pringle of Scotland, where she resurrected the heritage line into something modern and cool and reworked the line's knitwear. Before that, she worked under Tom Ford at Gucci, which means she knows a thing or two about sex appeal. Waight Keller will officially take over June 1, so we can look forward to seeing her first collection for Chloé at Spring 2012 Fashion Week. Clare Waight Keller debuted her first Spring collection for Chloé since taking the reigns from Hannah MacGibbon. Waight Keller, who most recently headed up design for knitwear brand Pringle of Scotland, showed a superbly light hand, sending flowy silhouettes and a soft palette down the runway. There was a hint of menswear in the cut of boxy shirts, blouses, and trousers, but it all felt very feminine thanks to prints - pretty florals - and colorblocking that mixed tones of blush and nude with deeper red or blue tones. Highlights were definitely the pleated pieces, which swished down the runway and gave a bouncy feel to the carefree collection. We can't wait to see what Waight Keller does next.

Colors: Nudes, blushes, rose, garnet, navy, white, cream.
