Project Runway, Episode 3, "Bright Lights, Big City"

Last night's episode of Project Runway showcased a wide and interesting array of creations from the budding designers.

Like season two, the contestants were asked to design an outfit for a night out on the town inspired by the (wet) cityscape of NYC. While a couple designs blew me away - namely Leanne's Doo.Ri-esque dress - I wasn't impressed with the overall amount of creativity. Take a look at their designs and let me know what you think.

Was It a Good Idea For the Models to Buy Fabrics on Behalf of the Designers?

For the first time in Project Runway history, the designers were not allowed to purchase their own fabrics. Gasp! Instead, the models they picked at the start of the episode did the shopping for them. And they weren't allowed to buy just any fabric; it had to be environmentally friendly. While some designers were impressed by their models' selections, others were stumped and unable to use most of what was in front of them. Of course, in the end, all the models had something to wear, and guest judge Natalie Portman was quite complimentary to some designers. But what do you think? Was it a good idea for the models to buy fabrics on behalf of the designers?
