Vanessa Bruno's 2012 Fall collection was all about the cool girl, which will surely please fashion insiders like Alexa Chung and Hollywood darlings Rachel Bilson and Kate Bosworth. Just what did the French designer have in store? A heavy helping of patent-leather pants and skirts paired with her signature tailored blazers, jewel-tone silk lace dresses, and gorgeous metallic finishes on structured tops and cropped trousers. Slick and modern looks were further translated into leather-trimmed quilted jackets, sheer embellished dresses, and vibrant handbags. Moschino Cheap & Chic channeled some of the more notable psychedelic '60s styles with an updated twist. Our favorite in the mod mix? Patchwork lace - it looks way prettier than it sounds - was pieced together into long-sleeved blouses, pencil skirts, and one totally covetable cocktail dress. Pair that retro vibe with military-inspired accents and an overarching beauty motif, and you've got the brand's Fall '12 ethos in a nutshell. The blend of tougher outerwear with rainbow fur add-ons, brightly-hued quilted accessories, Audrey-Hepburn worthy flats, and Grandma's hand-crocheted squares artfully sewn into the bodices and shoulders of cozy toppers showed off a girl who's both flirty and strongwilled. To polish off the femme affair, Moschino sent out beauty-themed prints and cotton ball-cum-pom pom details, as if the contents of one's makeup bag had been splashed onto the front of a cute daytime sheath. Tommy Hilfiger set the mood for his collection this evening at the Park Avenue Armory creating an Autumnal park paradise complete with wooden benches, pretty Fall trees, The Beatles playing in the backdrop, and even gravel to sink our booties into. As expected, the designer showcased his classic American style, but this time, interjected a completely modern spin to his mix via silk cable-knit printed dresses, luxe leather riding pants, and plenty of Glen plaid suits to go around. The classic pea coat was treated with a brilliant patent finish and trench coats received a smart colorblock detail on the sleeves. There were also plenty of quilted pieces, suede shirtdresses, A-line skirts, and tailored hunting jackets emoted a regal equestrian feel. Hilfiger exemplified the perfect mix of old and new - and we're loving every bit of it.

Trends: Plaid, patent leather, wrap skirts, military, quilting.
Colors: Olive green, brown, burgundy, black, purple, mustard yellow.
Key Piece: We loved Hilfiger's silk cable-knit printed dresses.

Lacoste Fall 2012

If the snow outside wasn't enough for NYFW attendees, Felipe Oliveira Baptista provided a few snowflakes of his own for Lacoste's Fall runway show this morning at Lincoln Center. As fake snow blew into the audience, Oliveira Baptista set the tone for his sporty chic ski-inspired line. Mixing in the old - Oliveira Baptista referenced uniforms the brand designed for France's 1966 national ski team - with the new, the designer conceived a smart mix of body-conscious pieces fitting for any après-ski occasion. One can easily head to the slopes, or to the cabin, in one of Oliveira Baptista's rugby-meets-ski minidresses and jumpsuits or sport-striped leggings paired with chic oversized parkas and coats. Leather quilted vests and jackets injected a luxurious touch to the overt sportif theme. With a play on fashionable function, Oliveira Baptista experimented with zippers, some of which opened up all the way up to the shoulders to replicate the look of a cardigan tossed over your shoulder, while others served as pockets for hoods disguised as a stylish oversized collar.
