Rachel Roy Adds Footwear to Her Designer Résumé

Rachel Roy has been keeping busy with her supercute and affordable Rachel Rachel Roy diffusion line and her gorgeous signature collection, and now, the designer has added another notch on her designer belt: shoes. The Rachel Roy shoe collection is a luxe transition from the designer's RRR footwear line: think pumps and booties - inspired by her mentor Manolo Blahnik - made in suede, calf, snake, pony hair, and glitter. Of course, such shoe decadence comes at a price; the collection is set to range within the $200 to $600 mark. “Here’s the thing about me and shoes,” said Roy. “I really feel like it’s the one item that, no matter how much you make, it is worth saving your pennies for.” We agree. First Look: Rachel Roy's Cool New Day-to-Night Eye Shadow Palette

Rachel Roy is known for wearing some pretty impressive makeup looks on red carpets (as evidenced here), but she also knocks it out of the park for her runway fashion shows as well. So it just makes sense that the designer is launching a day-to-night eye shadow palette ($32) on Nov. 1. The compact, her first foray into the beauty biz, can also be found at Macy's and macys.com.

"Beauty is something that I have always been interested in, and I had a great time developing this day-to-night palette of colors. I think I tried it on every girl in the office to make sure it was right!" Rachel told Lolo Magazine. So see the 10-shade set up close now.

Chic Twists and Braided Buns at Rachel Roy

Spring 2012 Fashion Week has produced some of the most wearable makeup and hairstyles around, and now you can place Rachel Roy's Spring 2012 show beauty look in your must-try file. Inspired by the modern, Asian influences seen in Rachel's collection, hair guru Ted Gibson developed a style that was a mix between both masculine (the sleekness at the front) and feminine (the twisted, braided bun).

He began by prepping the models' hair with his brand's Fix It Gel. Once the hair was blow-dried, he created a side part, twisted the sides back, and then braided the hair into a bun at the nape; Tame It lotion provided shine, while Beautiful Hold hair spray kept it all in place. A big silver barrette attached at the back proved to be a chic finishing touch.

For the makeup, Bobbi Brown went for a more monochromatic look, with Rose Gold lip gloss ("It looks good on everyone," Brown says) on the lips and Rose Gold eye shadow (available for Spring) on the lids. Various shades in the Bronze Shimmer Brick were applied to the eyes to adapt the color based around the models' skin tones. And if you're not one for dramatic daytime makeup looks, do what Brown did for the show: in lieu of liner, use an intensive black mascara (her version is out in Spring) to bring out the eyes and provide contrast to the pink tones.

Rachel Roy couldn't have picked a more beautiful day to present her Spring '12 collection - attended by celebs like Olivia Palermo and Kim Kardashian - outdoors at the Lincoln Center. It was the classic '30s flick The Lover, which took place in colonial Vietnam, that inspired Roy to meld the masculine with feminine via mint green draped suit jackets, tailored trousers, pajama separates, and asymmetric wrap dresses. Graphic floral prints gave an edge to washed silk maxi dresses and gowns, while tape-yarn and linen dresses added a textural touch to the collection. We especially loved the black and white silk jacquard pieces cut into louche trousers and shorts. More highlights from the collection below.
