Say hello to my new sassy babies: these Ralph Lauren Red Bow Sandals ($75, originally $255). I wasn't lying when I told you I was feeling whimsical. They're such lookers, I couldn't not share the wealth. I figure, with the holidays on the horizon, they would be the perfect bold accessory. The heel is high - 3.9 inches! - but for that reasonable price and darling look, I'll suck it up. If you're color shy, they also come in black, but I highly encourage the red.

Trend Alert: The Trench Dress

I've always been a fan of Ginnifer Goodwin's sleek style. She manages to give simple pieces a unique twist. Case in point: her Camilla and Marc silk trench dress. Wearing her jacket as a dress alludes to mystery. Is she or isn't she wearing something underneath? Only the wearer remains the wiser.

The trick to pulling this off is wearing a thinner trench made out of silk, satin, or a light cotton. That way, it looks more like a dress, and less like a coat. There are also a couple of "real" trench dresses available for those who don't like drafts. Me? I already own a light cotton trench, so layering it with a thin slip should do the trick.

If anyone can lift American spirits, it's Ralph Lauren. On the last (rainy) day of NYFW, his Depression era-inspired collection did, in fact, leave us on a positive note. Blues in all hues, denim, country florals, navy pinstripes, white cotton, and a couple drop-dead gowns were intensely pretty. And those glittering silver shoes - so fresh against tattered railroad denim. In his notes Lauren said, "I am inspired by the character of the workers, the farmer, the cowboy, the pioneer women of the prairies living authentically through challenging times." History repeats itself; fashion to the rescue.

The only thing Brit model Poppy Delevigne and Heidi Montag have in common is this super-cute floral Ralph Lauren dress. Poppy gave her frock a hard edge adding a tough leather jacket, black belt, flat sandals, and a metallic clutch. Heidi opted for a more Southern-belle vibe adorning herself with a floppy pink hat, matching watch, white Chanel bag, and peep-toe pumps. Same dress but two totally different ways. Which do you prefer?

But some are more outrageous than others; I don't really mind a slim, chic black version with not too saggy of a crotch.
