When creating the hair look for Rebecca Minkoff's Fall 2012 runway show, Tresemmé celebrity stylist Jeanie Syfu was inspired by the designer's mix-of-textures assemblage of sequins, knits, leathers, and metallics. But she also looked to something beyond the surface, exploring a "woman on a journey of self-discovery."

"I wanted the hair to look undone, and not perfect," Syfu explained. And that meant embracing models' natural texture: no curling and/or flat irons were used, and even the brushes stayed in their drawers. While Theophilus London serenaded the crowd (and Olivia Palermo jammed along to the beat), Minkoff's catwalkers hit the runway boasting an insanely cool crop of Fall looks. Bold in every sense, the collection delivered a confident mix of prints, sequins glamming up easy separates, and no shortage of megawatt color. FabSugar: Your tech accessories line shows signature "Rebecca Minkoff" style. How would you describe the girl that wears your collection?
Rebecca Minkoff: We call her the "downtown romantic." She likes to be noticed for her style and her bag, but not because of the logo. When I talk to my customers, they love that they're getting stopped for the style of their bag, or their shoe and apparel, not because of some particular name.

FS: These pieces are great for holiday gifting. Speaking of presents, what's on your wish list this year?
RM: A dining room table. We're slowly renovating our apartment since we made a room for the baby, which previously didn't exist. Something modern, maybe midcentury? That's always good.

FS: What do you love to give your friends during the holidays?
RM: I love to give people things from my line, because it's usually my friends who come to me saying, "I need a new bag for my wife, help!"

Rebecca Minkoff debuted a Spring collection today that will surely be sought after by a bevy of downtown girls. As DJ Mia Moretti mixed the soundtrack, the crowd - which included guests Sophia Bush, Chris Pine, Jessica Szohr, Alexis Bledel, and Michelle Trachtenberg - seemed mesmerized by Minkoff's "Desert-Love" collection featuring a sun-drenched color palette. Romantic billowy blouses, louche print trousers, sheer maxi dresses, and lace tops showed Minkoff's signature romantic touch, while leather separates and cutout dresses added edge. Minkoff's accessories collection was also in full force as the models held on to colorful clutches and chain bags. Down below, we spied a range of cutout booties and sweet lace-up sandals. However, the icing on the cake came when the crowd went crazy for the Man Repeller's Leandra Medine as she walked down the runway wearing a pair of black leather shorts and silk blouse. Guilty pleasure during Fashion Week: I'm oh so pregnant this season, so my goal is for the energy around me to remain very laid back and business as usual, as much as possible. I don't plan on indulging in anything and I fully intend on getting plenty of sleep. I'm kind of boring this time around!

Fashion's Night Out plans: I'll be at Saks Fifth Avenue hosting a Hair Braiding Bar with The Man Repeller. She's so much fun and my customers always bring enormous enthusiasm and excitement to FNO, so it's guaranteed to be a good time!

There's more reason to love Rebecca Minkoff now that the designer, who currently helms a handbag, clothing, and footwear line, will be adding sunglasses, jewelry, and scarves to her growing fashion empire. The new lines, which will make their debut during New York Fashion Week, will range from $50 to $350 for her jewelry collection and $125 to $250 for sunglasses. So what should you expect to see?

For eyewear, Minkoff experimented with different colors and embellishments. "If I’m going to do this, I don’t want it to look like anything else,” said Minkoff, referring to the studded sunnies, seen above.
