Warning: It's going to get crazy. The Comme des Garçons for H&M collection arrives in US stores tomorrow - set your alarm! The madness started last Saturday in Japan as H&M unveiled the collection to eager fans. According to sources, people stood in line for days to ensure their place in line. Rei Kawakubo's avant garde offerings include boiled wool pea coats, harem pants, and polka dot cardigans. My eye is set on this distressed jacket. Stores open at 10 a.m.; see you in line!

Fab Flash: Rei Kawakubo and Louis Vuitton Collaboration

Two fashion worlds collided in a recent collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Rei Kawakubo. The Japanese designer behind Comme des Garçons, known for her simple and avant-garde styling, has designed an exclusive collection of evening bags for the monogram heavy luxury label.

“Due to our clever coordination, I anticipate that the wall between us will disappear. Funnily enough, I have never actually bought anything [at Vuitton], but I probably will buy a party bag next week,” said Kawakubo .

Kawakubo's six handbag designs, debuting next Wednesday in Tokyo, range from classically styled evening bags to '70s inspired shapes adorned with charms and multiple leather straps such as the bag pictured above.

Fab Flash: Comme des Garçons For H&M

Years past have brought Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, and Roberto Cavalli to H&M, but 2008 is the year of Comme des Garçons.

Although no specific details have been released, head Comme designer Rei Kawakubo is expected to produce men's, women's, and children's collections for the fast-fashion chain, as well as a unisex fragrance. The collection, which will likely incorporate Rei's stark avant-garde aesthetic, has a planned debut in H&M stores worldwide in the beginning of November. This one should be interesting!

2012 CFDA Nominees Announced!

We like to think of the CFDAs as the fashion industry's Oscars, and last night, the council announced its 2012 nominees. Joining Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for the big womenswear designer award are Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row. Last year, the sisters swooped up the Swarovski Award for womenswear. The big announcement and stylish soiree happen in June, but for now, check out the full list of nominees:

Womenswear Designer of the Year: Marc Jacobs, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row, and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez

Menswear Designer of the Year: Patrik Ervell, Billy Reid, and Simon Spurr

Accessory Designer of the Year: Alexander Wang, Reed Krakoff, and McCollough and Hernandez for Proenza Schouler.

Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Joseph Altuzarra, Chris Peters and Shane Gabier for Creatures of the Wind, and Suno's Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty

Swarovski Award for Menswear: Antonio Azzuolo, Todd Snyder, and Phillip Lim

Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Tabitha Simmons, Pamela Love, and Irene Neuwirth

The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Tommy Hilfiger.

The Fashion Icon Award will be presented to Johnny Depp.

The International Award will go to Rei Kawakubo.

Comme des Garcons Spring 2012

Rei Kawakubo always marches to the beat of her own tune and her Spring collection for Comme des Garcons showed us yet another striking statement from the designer. The collection, which Kawakubo described as "white drama", displayed gowns with references to marriage and death. Dramatic, as she sent one of the models down the runway in a duchesse satin wedding dress bound at the wrists - we can all guess the innuendo there. Meanwhile, lace veiled dresses, structured skirts that resembled cages, and capes with no armholes further the restrictive theme. The headgear designed by three different artists also played a big role in the collection, showing a range of abstract texture and structure. More details from the collection below.
