Battle of the D&G: Bilson vs. Lathan

These ladies turned up at the D&G boutique opening party in LA in some statement-making pieces. Bilson decided to dress up jeans in a blue sequin tuxedo jacket and bright yellow clutch. Sanaa wore a black knit hat, a textured black and gold dress, and net-like sandals. It comes down to whether you dig the sequin tuxedo jacket or the lady in the hat. Who made a better statement?

Best of 2008: Favorite New Trend

It's hard keeping up with trends; nevertheless, it's an obsession of mine. While I bring you daily trend alerts, there were several trends that kept our attention throughout the year. Some tempered volume - shoulder love and the new crop of pants - these trends are for the more daring fashion darling. Meanwhile, the It bag gave way to the It shoe. Designers showcased over-the-top shoes on the Spring and Fall runways - to many a model's demise. We bought more clutches this year than ever before (oops). Countless celebrities shined thanks to statement necklaces and florals bloomed like crazy. We know which trend we hope lives on, what about you?

Who Wore it Better? Jenny Han Tuxedo Dress

Nip/Tuck actress Sanaa Lathan chose this sweet Jenny Han confection for the Sundance film festival back in January. But, Nicky Hilton chose the same one (over Prada!) for the Prada-presented Trembled Blossoms screening in LA last week. I'm pretty much in lust with the mod '60s feel, from the ruffled tuxedo detailing to the sexy mini length. Nicky dressed it up with some hot Louboutins and Sanaa made it work for the more casual Park City environs with knee high boots. I'm leaving this one to you - who looks more Fab?

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Diane von Furstenberg

If Diane von Furstenberg were in high school, she would be class president. Among all her CFDA duties, she struck gold with another stunning collection. This time, Jennifer Lopez, Uma Thurman, and Gossip Girls Leighton Meester and Jessica Szohr sat front row. As well, Molly Sims, Rosario Dawson, Sanaa Lathan and, my personal favorite, model Stephanie Seymour (in Alaia!). Whew. And I'm sure they were all dazzled.This go around was dubbed "Rock Goddess," and Diane described it as "an homage to Diana Vreeland, who taught us we could be goddesses and rock stars." With a big dose of flower child, DVF dresses and separates in India-inspired hues and adornments were my favorites. Some white cotton lace numbers were sweet, while floor-grazing floral gowns were demure. Prints were plentiful and gold sequins sparkled. Her take on silk pants, which I'm seeing everywhere, is wearable and simply pretty. And the headpieces - too fun. So fun, even the models were smiling.
