Look of the Day: Double Duty

adhusia took advice from her fellow Fab readers and tried out a new outfit. In one swift move, her double duty sequined vest changed her look from casual to cunning. I like how the gold contrasts her forest green dress. Lovely.

EBay and I are constant companions. She has been my go-to for awesomely unique vintage finds for years now. I have to admit though, she's not easy. Finding that one-of-a-kind piece always takes research and patience. I did some heavy duty searching and found an arsenal of amazing pieces to keep you fresh this Fall. Fingerless gloves, a cool slouchy beanie, and a faux fur vest are all on the menu. Tackle time.

Who Wore It Better? Missoni Sequined Vest

Ashley Olsen and Margherita Missoni are friends, so it's funny that both of them wore Missoni's sequined vest. I guess some friends do dress alike! Ashley first wore it at an amFAR event back in January, with barely any accessories. Underneath it, she wore a white, silk floor-length dress that covers her shoes. Margherita opted for a little more dazzle when she wore the vest at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The dress she paired it with is also white with small pink dots, and her oversized clutch is metallic gray. She also threw on bangles, earrings, and a necklace. Ash is characteristically understated, and Margherita is accessorized like always. Who do you think wore it better?

Come Fab Finding With Me: Napa Day Trip

This weekend, I'm taking a day trip to beautiful Napa Valley. It's going to be scorcher, the weatherman predicted a heatwave - don't you love Indian Summers? The plan is to drive out there in the a.m., have a nice brunch, and start wine tasting. OK, some outlet shopping might be involved. It's going to be a long, fun day, so I need to wear something comfy and cool. Can you help me put together a fantastic ensemble? I want to impress my man.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2009: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Phillip Lim's Fall collection was clearly a nod to the groovy '60s. Rocking to Siouxsie and the Banshees in the background, models strutted down the runway wearing impeccably cut coats, tailored pants, and printed dresses. His offerings might appear busy at first glance, but each piece has a defining quality. Lim's use of warm colors and sequin embellishments were unique but not over-the-top. The London vibe was definitely apparent; I can totally see Kate Moss donning this snazzy outfit.

A hefty selection of furs made into vests, chubbys, and even skirts was also key to the designer's offerings. Pairing them with floaty chiffon dresses and tops gave them a hip dimensional and textural quality. All in all, a cool, funkadelic line from Lim.

A good friend is (finally!) graduating from college and has invited me to the ceremony. It's been a while since I attended someone else's graduation, so I needed help finding the perfect ensemble. I told you I wanted to look stylish (a given), a tad fancy (but not overboard), and comfortable.

LL in Elle, Her Fab Fashion Picks

Like so many other people in the world who won't admit it: I can't resist a juicy Lindsay Lohan story. While we await her controversial appearance, is she? isn't she? she is, on the September cover of Elle, we can get a bite of what to expect from the naughty (to say the least) actress. You can see more photos from the shoot and edgy LL-inspired clothing picks through this slide show on Elle.com but I put together some of my Fab picks. Lindsay is a prissy little bad ass so her wardrobe from the shoot contains vast amounts of black, leather, sequins, Chanel and sex kitten shoes. While I'm still waiting to see the softer side of Lindsay - it's been so long - I guess we'll just ride this Lindsay wave out.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Jenni Kayne

LA based designer Jenni Kayne showed a youthful, sophisticated collection that lacked punch. Also, the palette was the moody black, greys and tans we've been seeing and I kept waiting for some color cameos, to no avail.

There were definitely some interesting mentions however. Dresses, both long and short, were pretty pretty with touches like round gold sequin collars and trickling disc sequins. I can definitely picture Nicole Richie in the one shouldered black fringe mini dress. Cream pieces were strong; coats and a really cute high waisted, only slightly tulip, skirt were standouts. Kayne obviously favors the vest-over-dress look with several short and long versions. The overall silhouette was slim and flattering, and her playing with proportions was impressive.
