Cannes Starlets Get Minimalist Chic For a Calvin Klein Fete - Who's Most Fab?

Our favorite style setters slipped into their chicest Calvin Klein cocktail wear for the label's Women in Film fete last night in Cannes. It's like watching Francisco Costa's collections come to life in a bevy of pastel hues and minimalist cuts as the guests stepped out to celebrate the occasion at Villa St George. Diane Kruger showed off a decidedly feminine shape in a fit-and-flare coral dress with white Givenchy heels and Naomi Watts offered up a Calvin Klein staple in a nude slip dress. Shailene Woodley embraced a pretty pastel peach on her simple sheath dress, finished with nude ankle-strap heels, while Jessica Chastain, too, decided on a bright hue on her long-sleeve shift, then opted for white ankle-strap platforms to finish. The ever-stunning Lara Stone selected a silver-hued metallic slip dress, which she finished with subtle nude sandals. It's not easy to pick favorites in this styled Calvin Klein-clad crew, but we're letting you make the call. Which of the night's attendees gets your vote for best dressed?

Glee-ful Highlights From Episode "Prom-asaurus"

It's prom time again on Glee, and this year's festivities contain just as much drama as last year's, plus infinitely more dinosaurs. That's right - Brittany decides to exercise her presidential rights in order to celebrate the peace that apparently once existed between cavemen and dinos. It doesn't make much sense, but it does give Brittany the opportunity to prance around in a Flintstones-esque getup to Ke$ha's "Dinosaur."

It wouldn't be prom without a heated race for king and queen, and the usual suspects have their eyes on the prize: Quinn, Santana, Kurt, and Brittany. Only Quinn uses questionable methods in hopes of winning the crown, but once again, there's a shocker when the envelopes are finally read. It really feels like we're inching closer to that bittersweet Glee graduation, so let's recap the episode when you

Can I just say how much I loved all of the performances this week? OK, "Dinosaur" isn't about to be added to my iPod, but the slate of pop songs is otherwise wonderful. Rachel, Kurt, and Blaine harmonize beautifully on "Big Girls Don't Cry," while "Love You Like a Love Song" and "What Makes You Beautiful" are perfect current choices for the prom. The clincher of course is "Take My Breath Away," which serves nicely as the prom king and queen dance. Overall, I was feeling it.
With NYADA no longer in the picture, Rachel decides to shift her focus away from her shattered dreams and on to her prom and her wedding. That is, until she learns that Finn and Quinn are campaigning together for prom. It's easy to see both sides of the equation: Rachel doesn't want her prom night ruined by another girl, but Finn wants to help his friend who's had a rough year. Rachel doesn't give in though, and decides to throw her very own anti-prom party. It might have been a good idea if anyone besides Kurt, Blaine, Puck, and Becky showed up.
Quinn starts making major strides at therapy with Joe's support, and decides to show off her walking skills at the prom. In the meantime, she shamelessly uses her condition to sway voters, much to Finn's chagrin. He's sent over the edge when he catches her on two legs during the prom, and is particularly mad at himself for putting Quinn's feelings first. Finn nearly gets into a brawl with Joe after aggressively demanding that Quinn come clean to all the people that voted for her, but ultimately storms off instead.
Finn sets out to bring Rachel and co. back to the prom, which is well timed since Rachel just so happens to be showing off her perfect prom dress at that very moment. It seems like everyone's happy, until Santana learns that Brittany won't win prom king and is bitter about the whole prom court situation. Quinn has earned the most votes anyway, but she takes no pleasure in the victory - and tells Principal Figgins that Rachel was a write-in winner. It's a very sappy, very Glee moment, but it's a refreshing change of pace after Kurt winning prom queen last year as a cruel joke. Rachel's genuinely shocked, and once she realizes she's not in her own version of Carrie, she enjoys her moment in the sun.
There are major strides for the rest of the kids as well: Becky finally gets her crown, Puck fulfills his lifelong dream of spiking the prom punch, and Blaine conquers his fear of going gel-free. Like I said, big accomplishments.

A First Look at the Rosie Pope Collection For A Pea in the Pod

It really is looking like this is the Summer of the British Invasion. With British boy bands burning up the charts, the London Olympics just a few months away, and the Queen's jubilee celebration about to begin, we can't turn around without spotting the Union Jack! Now the maternity world is set to be conquered by none other than Pregnant in Heels star and British expat Rosie Pope. As we told you earlier this year, Rosie Pope is creating a capsule collection for A Pea in the Pod filled with designs similar to her own high-end boutique pieces, but at a fraction of the price (pieces from the collection will start at $85).

I caught up with the expectant Rosie (she's less than two weeks away from delivering her third child and the second season of her show) to see the collection firsthand - and it's beautiful. The 15 "desk-to-dinner" pieces - including a shirt dress, shifts, silk tops, blazers, and cardigans - are designed to make moms-to-be feel more glamorous than ever before. And as for the design details, Rosie said she was inspired by what Kate Middleton wears. For all of the bending down the nonpregnant Duchess must do when greeting people, she chooses tops with higher necklines and lower backs, thus avoiding wardrobe malfunctions. Rosie employed the same principle for her new collection, hoping to keep pregnant women's growing assets covered up, but not in a frumpy way. When asked about an overall theme for the collection, she noted that it definitely has sex on its mind - just like many of her clients on the show this season! The Five-Year Engagement's Emily Blunt on Weddings: "It Should Be Very Personal to You"

Emily Blunt was in NYC last week to chat up her new movie The Five-Year Engagement, which hits theaters tomorrow. The movie was one of two Emily premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. She also hit the red carpet to show off Your Sister's Sister. Five-Year pairs Emily with her pal Jason Segel, and the duo portrays Tom and Violet, a couple who has more than their fair share of difficulty getting down the aisle after a lengthy engagement. Emily spoke at a press event about relationship and wedding advice. She also touched on Five-Year's writer and star, Jason Segel, and how he "likes women" and wanted to write a comedy that flipped around gender stereotypes. Emily said:

On how to plan a wedding: "Don't have too many cooks in the kitchen. It has to be your wedding. It has to be whatever you want. It's essential. A lot of the time people get married for other people - for your parents, for your relatives, for your friends. Everyone wants the big do, and the dress, and the ring, and the whole thing. I really think if you want to get married in your backyard, then you should. It really should be very personal to you. That's my advice."
On the importance of communication: "Really, life is complicated and it's shape-shifting all the time and you have to be willing to roll with the punches. And the main thing is - something I found hard to learn as a British person - was communication. It's a word that we all are terrified of in England."

As Madewell's Epic Road Trip Begins, Creative Director Shares Her Wardrobe Must Haves

Madewell launched a massive road trip yesterday, using a vintage Airstream as a kind of nomadic pop-up shop to bring its awesome (we can personally vouch for this) denim to cities and college campuses from Boston to Seattle. We stopped by the Airstream yesterday morning to share coffee, donuts, and Spring shopping tips with Kin Ying Lee, the ever hospitable and eternally cool creative director of Madewell who, by the way, was wearing a pair of floral-print corduroys from the forthcoming holiday collection. That means printed pants are not going away, yay! A chambray shirt: "This is key. I wear one ALL the time. It's great because you can layer with it, and wear it open. I wear it as a jacket as well."
Skinny ankle: "These look amazing with heels, sandals, short boots. It's a great denim jean for Spring because it's got a shorter inseam so it hits right at your ankle. You can show off those manicured feet. It's really sexy."
The boy jean: "I think in Spring and Summer you want something that's not so tight. A boy jean gives you that little slouch, and that casual, more effortless look. This and the skinny ankle are my two go-to jeans."

Your clothes reveal a lot about who you are as a person. LearnVest shares how psychology affects the way we dress and what our clothing styles mean.

It’s no news that your wardrobe says a lot about you.

What you wear can inform passersby of your type of employment, as well as your ambitions, emotions, and spending habits.

And now it’s even launched a whole new type of psychology.

Clinical psychologist Dr. Jennifer Baumgartner literally wrote the book on this phenomenon, which she calls the “psychology of dress.” In You Are What You Wear: What Your Clothes Reveal About You, she explains not only how psychology determines our clothing choices, but also how to overcome key psychological issues your wardrobe might be bringing to light in your everyday life, or even at work.

“Shopping and spending behaviors often come from internal motivations such as emotions, experiences, and culture,” says Dr. Baumgartner. “You look at shopping or storing behaviors, even putting together outfits, and people think of it as fluff. But any behavior is rooted in something deeper. I look at the deeper meaning of choices, just like I would in therapy.”

We spoke with her to figure out why clothes are so revealing (of our personalities, that is), what messages they’re sending and how you can use your wardrobe to change how others perceive you - and even how you think about yourself.

How We Use Clothing as an Aid . . . and a Weapon

Americans rely on clothing as an economic and social indicator because there aren’t official marks of rank such as a caste system or aristocracy, says Dr. Baumgartner.

“When you don’t have a specific system, people come up with their own,” she explains. It’s what “helps you figure out where you fit in. Especially now, with the economy, with people losing status, maintaining a sense of who we are becomes even more important. Our clothes help place us where we think we want to be. ”

She cites the Real Housewives TV series as an example: “Look at the way they focus on money. When they fight, they use logos and designers as a way to put each other down. They’re using clothes and accessories both as a tool to know where they fit in and as a weapon against others.”
