HP's New Digital Diet

If you've ever wish your photos could be touched up like celebrities on magazine covers, you're now in luck. Hewlett Packard has just come out with seven different versions of its Photosmart Digital Slimming Cameras, which include a feature that can make your photo subjects look up to 10 pounds thinner. When the slimming effect is applied, the pixels of the photo are compressed in the center and expanded on the edges, so everything stays in proportion.

The slimming features is basically like having photo editing software at your fingertips, and it's really easy to use. All you do is:

Take a photo.
Go to the menu on the back of the camera, select an image and press OK.
Highlight the design/gallery menu and press OK.
Highlight "apply artist effects."
Adjust the level of the slimming effect using the arrows and press OK. The original image that you took will always be saved just in case you don't like the way it turned out.

Don't be deterred by Ann Demeulemeester's Fall 2012 tough-girl exterior and Edward Scissorhands-inspired coifs, this collection was chock-full of gorgeously elegant dresses, skirts with expertly deconstructed pleats, and perfectly structured outerwear. Like our antihero Edward Scissorhands, we think this blue- and black-hued lineup shows off a mean-looking exterior at first glance, but the sum of its parts are acutely beautiful with a serious dose of edge and excellent tailoring upon further examination. Be sure to take note of the standout styles: high-necked, floor-sweeping frocks paired with leather opera-length gloves, slick leather pants tucked into slouchy thigh-high moto boots, and biker-inspired jackets featuring slim sleeves and asymmetrical folds. Twenty8Twelve Fall 2012

Even though sisters Savannah and Sienna Miller left the brand earlier this year, the ultra-cool Twenty8Twelve girl that they created is still very much present in the Fall '12 collection. Designers Vanessa James and Elsa Elphick offered a '60s mod grouping for the season, featuring Beatnik-style babydoll frocks with tights, slim-fitting trousers and flawlessly-cut coats - all perfect pieces for the seemingly effortless girl-about-town. They also played with prints - we saw the Prince of Wales check on tailored trousers, a silk blouse and skirt were cut in bold florals, and a psychedelic pattern popped up on a pair of slouchy shorts. Overall, Twenty8Twelve still has the same pretty, cool-girl appeal, and we're really feeling this Fall collection.

Trends: Menswear-inspired trousers, tailored peacoats, short babydoll dresses, leather touches.
Colors: Black, gray, camel, petal pink, navy.
Key Piece: The Pepto Bismol-pink peplum dress caught our eye immediately.
Accessories: Sculptural colorblock heels, black leather gloves, printed head wraps.
Who Would Wear It: Retro-chic types like Kirsten Dunst and Zooey Deschanel.

Corsets: Lots of Controversy Squeezed Into One Undergarment

Nowadays, women who want a trimmer waist in a pinch typically turn to Spanx or some other body-slimming underwear. But when it's less about practicality and more about looking sexy in nothing but your skivvies (like for your Valentine's Day date night, for instance), you may choose to don a corset. While modern women are free to wear these fitted underpinnings whenever we want to spice things up in the bedroom, corsets and the idealized tiny waists they create have a long and controversial history that doesn't seem to be going away any time soon.

Just last September, Vogue Italia controversially featured Ethel Granger and her 13-inch waist, which she achieved by wearing a corset 24-7. Ethel, who holds the record for the smallest waist in recorded history, went through the painful process for her husband. Her motivation brings up one of the main issues with corsets: are they for the men or the women? And Romanian-born model Ioana Spangenberg, "the human hourglass," is being criticized for setting a bad example with her 20-inch waist, even though she claims she can't help her shape and didn't use corsets to achieve it.

Sexism, Stereotypes, and the Super Bowl: Recent Ads That Sexualize Women

Sex sells - especially for Super Bowl ads - and year after year, major companies try to get away with the raciest, steamiest ads possible, often at the expense of women. Cars, food, technology - it doesn't matter what the product is; these ads throw in a hot, skin-baring woman for distraction and buzz. Ahead of the big game tomorrow, let's look back at some of the most scandalous ads in the last few years. And maybe one day we'll see more Super Bowl ads that show women some respect.

Skechers: "Kim Kardashian For Shape-Ups"

Kim teases her trainer by telling him he's "the best she's ever had, but it's not working out," and she prefers her Shape-Up Skechers over him. This 2011 ad is confusing and mismarketed, because it's eye candy for men, yet targeting women. Plus, no woman in her right mind would pass up that smokin' trainer for a pair of sneakers.

If You're Craving Girl Scout Cookies, Try These Instead

It's Girl Scout Cookie time! Noshing on these fund-raising treats seems like an American pastime, but it can be challenging to keep a snack session of these seasonal sweets in check. If you can enjoy your cookies in a reasonable manner, then good for you! But if you're looking for a way to scratch that sugary itch without killing your healthy eating agenda, here are some healthier alternatives.

Do-Si-Dos
Two-cookie serving: 120 calories, five grams of fat, seven grams of sugar

Quick Fix: The Larabar Peanut Butter Cookie is a perfect substitute since it's so filling - I usually only eat half of a bar at a time. One bar contains 220 calories, seven grams of protein, and four grams of fiber. Made out of dried dates, one bar equals one half serving of fruit. There are 18 grams of sugar in this bar, but the sugar content is not added; it naturally occurs in the dates. The other two ingredients in this bar are peanuts and salt.

DIY Fix: Make your own tasty peanut butter treat! Blend a little peanut butter, apple sauce, and raisins for a sweet, satisfying, and nutritious homemade spread. Two tablespoons of this peanut butter raisin spread offers almost five grams of protein and two grams of fiber.
