Look what we have today: sparkly limbs! Miz_ayet could have worn opaque tights with her menswear look. Instead, she added major dazzle to the mix. What a great way to spend a night on the town.

Digging For Treasure at Forever 21 . . .

Bright lights. Overcrowded fixtures. Bad, bad, clothes. Everywhere. This is often the situation when you enter a Forever 21 store. The sheer number of bad pleather leggings and neon animal-print blouson tops is enough to send any fashionista running the other direction.

However, the recessionista looks beyond the piles and racks and rows of bad, to the hidden, unexpected gems that lurk just on the other side of that pair of red denim hot pants. It takes skill, believe me. There are so many things in F21 that look great on the hanger and terrible on your body, but also plenty of things that look questionable until you try them on.

The honest fact too, is that F21 is a hit or miss situation. I've walked in there, looked around and walked out empty handed in under five minutes many times. But every now and then, I go in, find two arm-fulls of potential deals, and walk out an hour and a half later, $100 poorer and utterly pleased with my new purchases.

Last week was one of those trips.

Epic Holiday Party: Dress Me!

I dare you to tell me what's better in December than a really, really, great holiday party. My dear and darling friend Caitlin's family hosts an absolutely amazing Christmas party at their home in West Seattle every year. It's a guaranteed night of festive drinks, old friends, and dancing into the early morning.

I'm thinking of treating myself to a new dress for the occasion, but obviously, the Marc Jacobs frock I posted about last week is just a little out of my price range. (Though I did see it in person at Nordstrom the other day, and I have to say - it really is beautiful.) Thanks to my little job in retail (and the delicious holiday discounts Urban Outfitters Inc. gives its lovely employees at all three stores) I can get a fab dress at an even fabber price.

So here's what I'm considering . . .

This Flight of the Swans dress from Anthropologie is majorly on sale now ($79.95) and I've loved it since it first arrived in October. (It sparkles and has pockets!) I imagine it with gold jewelry, black tights, and black heels.

So, normally I'm not really one for strapless dresses. They tend to accentuate that little thing every girl has and no amount of weight-training can get rid of: armpit fat. However, I figure that if I spend the night with one elbow popped and a hand on my hip, and the other waving a cocktail around, maybe it will never appear. With a solid color pair of tights and fun shoes? And a statement necklace or chandelier earrings? No?

OK, now this dress is really saucy and sparkly. And short. I realize this. Just imagine for a minute though, that I have a black tunic-length tank underneath that has a thicker strap (almost like a beater width) and a little bit higher neck, and also about an inch longer. Hot? With a black cardi, minimal bling, and tights, of course?

I Want This Wardrobe: Gossip Girl, Georgina Sparks

Reformed bad girl Georgina Sparks reappears on tonight's episode of Gossip Girl, sporting a devilishly prim-girl getup. Since it can still be cold in NYC, Georgina layers on a maroon coat by Nanette Lepore, black tights, dusty pink scarf, and matching pink headband. Ferocious Christian Louboutin pumps, leather gloves, and textured tote complete her agenda.

Beyonce is looking beyond metallic in Dolce & Gabbana at the BET Awards last night. I love her makeup and hair but I think overall it's a bit too sparkly and tight. We know Beyonce loves to sparkle though so what do you think?

VMA Style: Going For Gold

Purple may have been the color of choice at the Emmys, but at last night's MTV Video Music Awards, the stars opted solidly for gold. Gold is, after all, one of fall's most pervasive trends. Even host Jack Black spent part of the night in a sparkly gold suit.

Christina Aguilera arrived wearing a beaded, nude-toned gown that glittered like gold - and also very much like the gown Best-Dressed Katherine Heigl chose for the Emmys.

Petra Nemcova showed up in an adorable strapless shift-dress paired with some sort of weird gold-chain headband.
